Job description

Position Summary:  The Dispatcher for TP Mechanical’s Distribution Center will be responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and routing deliveries of materials, equipment, and prefabricated assemblies to our projects and facilities. This role ensures timely, accurate, and cost-effective deliveries while maintaining strong communication with drivers, shop personnel, project managers, and field teams. The Dispatcher plays a critical role in keeping our operations efficient and our customers satisfied.

 Responsibilities and Duties:

Delivery Scheduling & Routing

  • Plan, schedule, and dispatch daily deliveries to jobsites and company facilities.
  • Optimize delivery routes for efficiency, cost savings, and timely arrival.
  • Adjust schedules as needed to accommodate last-minute requests, emergencies, or jobsite changes. 

Coordination & Communication

  • Act as the central point of contact between the Distribution Center, drivers, shop leads, and project teams.
  • Communicate delivery schedules, special instructions, and updates clearly and promptly.
  • Ensure alignment with field supervisors on required delivery times and priorities.

Logistics Management

  • Maintain delivery records, logs, and schedules within dispatch software or company systems.
  • Monitor fleet status, driver availability, and vehicle readiness.
  • Support compliance with DOT, safety, and company delivery requirements.

Problem Solving & Issue Resolution

  • Anticipate and resolve scheduling conflicts, route challenges, or material availability issues.
  • Track and report on missed, delayed, or incomplete deliveries; implement corrective measures.

Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate with Distribution Center leadership to improve routing efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer service.
  • Support lean/5S and process improvement initiatives within the Distribution Center.
  • All other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications and Experience:

·        2+ years of experience in dispatching, logistics, or distribution operations (construction industry preferred).

·        Strong knowledge of routing, scheduling, and transportation best practices.

·        Proficient in Microsoft Office and dispatch/logistics software (experience with Stratus or similar preferred).

·        Excellent organizational and communication skills.

·        Ability to multitask, prioritize, and perform well in a fast-paced environment.

·        Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
