About MeatWorks
MeatWorks of Kansas is a small locally owned custom meat processing butcher serving Riley, Manhattan, and surrounding areas. We work with local producers to provide fresh, quality pork and beef to our consumers. Our expert staff is trained in butchering hogs and cattle and will work with both producers and consumers to offer the best meat possible. Recently, we have begun specializing in Wagyu beef, and look forward to our new partnership with Booth Creek Wagyu Ranch. Choose MeatWorks of Kansas and become a part of a winning team!
Job Description
The Meat Processor - Butcher works in our local meat locker performing precision functions involving the preparation of meat. Work includes slaughtering tasks, cutting standard or premium cuts of meat for marketing, making sausage, smoking meat, packaging meats, and at times, running the store front.
A Typical Meat Processor - Butcher workday includes:
  • Tasks typical of custom beef and pork butchering and processing
  • Ensuring food safety and quality
  • Cleanliness and housekeeping while maintaining a safe working environment
  • Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions with slippery surfaces at varied heights; moving mechanical parts; fast paced warm/cool environment; standing the entire shift, the use of stairs, and the use of PPE which is required in all areas of the facility
Qualifications:
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Knowledge and skill to make all beef and pork cuts
  • Able to operates bandsaw to make all essential cuts
  • Ability to operate on the kill floor as needed
  • Must be able to lift 50-80lbs.
  • Capable of operating the smokehouse and making processed meats
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
  • Must be able to work safely in a fast-paced environment; wearing all safety equipment required.
  • Wednesday and Thursday availability preferred

  • Starting pay $17/hr., could be up to $25/hr. based on level of experience
