Position Overview

Responsible for assisting Westin Packaged Meats-Fairbury Operation's maintenance of facility and grounds

Requirements

  • Experience in mechanical repair
  • Experience in welding (mig, tig and arc)
  • Have a positive and professional attitude
  • Follow GMPs at all times
  • Maintain a safe work environment and follow safety policies
  • Notify management immediately of any unsafe situations
  • Follow all Food Safety Policies
  • Must always follow LOTO (Lock out Tag out) program
  • Participate in daily LEAN meetings and stretches
  • Regular attendance is required
  • Prompt, on time reporting to work stations is required
  • Ability to walk between buildings/work outdoors in all conditions (hot or cold environments)
  • Ability to stand up to 9 hours per day
  • Ability to walk on uneven surface, ramps and stairs
  • Ability to climb step and extension ladders
  • Ability to bend, stoop, twist, push, pull 7-8 hours a day
  • Must provide own hand tools per Tool Stipend Policy
  • Strength Level Factor 4 - Exert up to 100 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs of force frequently and/or up to 20 lbs of force constantly.

Essential Functions

  • Complete monthly PM's (Preventative Maintenance) work orders for all the facilities of Westin Packaged Meats - Fairbury Operations in a timely manner
  • Complete work order requests for equipment repairs, i.e., process equipment, its sub-systems and all ancillary processes or equipment related to the operation of the plant floor from a mechanical or welding perspective
  • Running and bending conduit and pipe
  • Complete work order requests for any facility repairs including, but not limited to carpentry and painting
  • Adheres to all company policies including, but not limited to: safety, GMPs, and SOPs
  • Actively participates in all assigned team meetings, training opportunities and required continuing education

  • Pallet Jack Training

Required Personal Protective Equipment

  • PPE is required to be worn/used at ALL TIMES which includes but is not limited to:
    • Safety Glasses
    • Hearing Protection
    • Welding Helmet and Gloves (when welding)
    • Safety Toe Shoes/Boots in all areas.
    • Boots (when on the roof of any building)
