Position Summary

The Cook is responsible for preparing menu items utilizing cooking equipment in a fast-paced environment. The Cook must adhere to high food quality standards to ensure guest satisfaction. Portion control, food waste, and sanitation are additional areas that the Cook must be aware of while operating in the kitchen. This position requires someone with a passion for the culinary arts, attention to detail, and commitment to upholding the highest standards. As a Cook at SoFi Center, you will be responsible for preparing and executing dishes to the highest quality, contributing to an impeccable dining experience for our guests. Cooks will often have direct contact with the public, working in areas such as a buffet line slicing meats or preparing dishes to order.

This role will pay an hourly rate of $24.00 - $27.00.

About the Venue

Oak View Group is the venue manager and food and beverage provider of the SoFi Center, a first-of-its-kind venue located in Palm Beach Gardens on the campus of Palm Beach State College. TGL presented by SoFi is a new golf league, combining advanced technology with teams of top players from the PGA TOUR for two-hour weekly competitions in prime time. Seven TGL teams representing seven different cities go head-to-head in a season-long competition at SoFi Center, a first-of-its-kind venue built specifically for TGL on the campus of Palm Beach State College. Matches air on ESPN and the ESPN app in the U.S. with every shot live and all the players mic'd up, bringing unprecedented access to the competition for golf fans.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Executive Chef and culinary team to develop and execute seasonal and specialty dishes that align with our standards.
  • Ensure food preparation and presentation meet high-end aesthetic and taste standards
  • Responsible for consulting with Stand Lead/Catering Supervisors and Concessions Supervisors to plan menus and estimate expected food consumption.
  • Monitor food inventory and assist in ingredient ordering, ensuring freshness and quality of ingredients
  • Follow recipes precisely and adjust according to guests' dietary requirements or special requests
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations, especially during peak hours
  • Responsible for cooking and packaging food products, which is prepared to order or kept warm until sold
  • Receives verbal orders from the front counter staff for food product requirements for guest orders
  • Responsible for maintaining quality and production standards on all menu items. Food must be fresh and of high quality when served to the guests
  • Responsible for portion control and serving temperatures of all products served
  • Responsible for cleaning, stocking and restocking of workstations and displays
  • Responsible for operating large-volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep-fat fryers and ovens
  • Ensures that all work areas and equipment are clean, food products are properly stored, utensils are clean and put away, and the floor is swept and mopped at the end of the shift.
  • Check out with the Kitchen Supervisor before ending the shift
  • Maintains sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas
  • Show demonstrated ability to meet the company standard for excellent attendance
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
  • 1+ years of experience in a fast-paced, event catering role preferred.
  • High School Diploma, G.E.D., or related food service experience preferred.
  • Able to operate standard kitchen equipment, including the deep fryer, flattop grill, chargrill, broiler, steamer, convection oven, mixer, meat slicer, and chef knife.
  • Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff, and guests in a clear, business-like, and respectful manner that focuses on generating a positive, enthusiastic, and cooperative work environment.
  • Employee will constantly push & lift equipment, food products, and supplies.
  • Must be able to pull, climb, stoop, and kneel to push carts of equipment and food, move tables & chairs, and reach supplies.
  • Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff, and guests in a clear, business-like, and respectful manner that focuses on generating a positive, enthusiastic, and cooperative work environment.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.
  • Possess a valid ServSafe food handling certificate.
