Job description

South Country Coop is proud to be a trusted, communityminded organization serving our members and guests. We are currently accepting applications for an Assistant Meat Manager to support the overall operation of our Meat Department.

Reporting to the Meat Manager, the Assistant Meat Manager is responsible for assisting with the overall operation of the Meat department. Responsibilities include managing sales, gross margin and other expense control, department standards, ordering and inventory control, customer service, administrative duties, and department production and merchandising.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day operations of the Meat Department, ensuring merchandising, inventory, food safety, sanitation, and presentation standards are consistently met.
  • Support the Meat Manager in providing leadership, coaching,and training to Team Members, fostering a positive and engaged work environment.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and promote Co-op membership by building strong relationships with members and customers.
  • Assist with department in assigning duties, and the implementation of company policies and procedures.
  • Support the achievement of sales, margin, expense, and profitability targets through effective operational and merchandising practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, workplace health and safety, asset protection, and regulatory requirements.
  • Help resolve customer concerns, operational challenges, and staffing issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Champion South Country Co-op's values and brand by serving as a positive ambassador within the store and community.

Who are you

You are looking for a career in Retail Store Operations and have:ย 

  • Retail Meat Cutting Certificate from a recognized institution, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of meat cutting experience.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of progressive supervisory or leadership experience in a retail or similar environment.
  • Strong customer service focus with a commitment to delivering an exceptional guest experience.
  • Effective leadership, coaching, and employee engagement skills.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management abilities with the capacity to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and professionally with Team Members and customers.
  • Comfortable adapting to new technology and changing business needs.
  • A results-driven and continuous improvement mindset, focused on operational excellence and customer satisfaction
  • Demonstrate the Co-op values of customer focused, builds awesome teams, and communicates effectively in every aspect of work.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
  • Work in varying temperatures, including coolers and freezers regularlyย 

Work Schedule:ย 

This position, requires full availability to workย evenings, weekends, early mornings, and holidays to meet the needs of our customers and members.
