Job description

Module Delivery Leader (MDL)

Great companies need great teams to propel their operations. Join the group that solves business challenges and enhances the way we work and grow. Working at Gainwell carries its rewards. You'll have an incredible opportunity to grow your career in a company that values your contributions and puts a premium on work flexibility, learning, and career development.

Summary The Module Delivery Leader (MDL) is engineering and delivery leader accountable for end-to-end delivery, quality, and outcomes for an assigned product or solution module. The MDL acts as the single point of accountability for module execution, ensuring commitments are realistic, delivery is predictable, and outcomes meet both business and customer expectations. This role requires a self-driven, proactive, go-getter leader who thrives in complex, matrixed environments, anticipates risks early, and drives clarity and accountability across engineering, product, and delivery teams—without waiting for direction. The MDL is a trusted delivery partner to Product, Program, and Client Delivery leadership and plays a critical role in ensuring Gainwell delivers high-quality, scalable, and compliant healthcare solutions.

Your role in our mission

End-to-End Module Delivery Ownership

Own full delivery accountability for the module, including scope, schedule, quality, and delivery commitments. Ensure delivery execution aligns with contractual commitments, product priorities, and engineering capacity. Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and systemic issues; drive mitigation and resolution early. Serve as the first point of escalation for module-level delivery, quality, and dependency issues.

Engineering & Technical Leadership

Lead and influence multi-disciplinary engineering teams across development, testing, architecture, and support. Partner with Architects and Technical Leads to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, performant, and supportable. Ensure adherence to engineering best practices, definition of done, quality standards, and release readiness. Support alignment with CMS Medicaid IT Architecture (MITA) expectations and healthcare regulatory requirements.

Planning, Commitments & Governance

Own module-level planning across PI/release cycles, balancing product roadmap, customer commitments, and capacity. Collaborate with Product Owners to resolve conflicting priorities and make data-driven tradeoff decisions. Establish and operate a metrics-driven governance model, tracking: Delivery commitments & progress Defect trends and quality KPIs Change requests and patch commitments Module performance and delivery health Provide clear, audience-appropriate status reporting to leadership and stakeholders—no surprises.

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration

Act as a trusted delivery advisor to Product, Program, and Client Delivery leadership. Work closely with Infrastructure, Security, IT, Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to ensure seamless delivery. Drive resolution of cross-module and cross-team dependencies in highly matrixed environments. Build strong relationships across Gainwell teams to ensure shared accountability for outcomes.

People, Culture & Leadership

Lead with ownership, urgency, and accountability, setting the standard for delivery excellence. Partner with India Delivery Leaders (IDLs), Scrum Masters, and People Managers to ensure teams are: Appropriately staffed Fully engaged Clear on priorities and expectations Coach and mentor leaders and teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, transparency, and ownership. Participate in talent development, performance feedback, and succession planning as needed.

How Success Is Measured

Performance in this role is evaluated based on: Predictability and quality of delivery Achievement of committed delivery outcomes Module-level quality and operational metrics Stakeholder and customer confidence and satisfaction Effectiveness in risk management and escalation Ability to lead, influence, and deliver in a matrixed environment Commitment to continuous improvement and leadership development

What we're looking for

Experience 10+ years of experience in software engineering, solution delivery, or technical program leadership. 5+ years in a delivery, engineering, or people leadership role managing complex, multi-team initiatives. Strong experience delivering enterprise-scale systems, preferably in Healthcare/Medicaid/MMIS environments. Experience supporting maintenance & operations (M&O) alongside active development is a strong plus. Leadership & Delivery Traits Self-starter and go-getter with a strong sense of ownership. Proven ability to operate effectively in highly matrixed organizations. Strategic thinker with the ability to move seamlessly between strategy and execution. Strong financial and delivery acumen—understands tradeoffs between scope, cost, quality, and timelines. Excellent communicator with the ability to inspire confidence with senior leadership and stakeholders. Technical & Domain Skills Strong understanding of Agile/SAFe delivery, modern SDLC practices, and CI/CD. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Preferred experience with Medicaid, MMIS, Claims Processing, or Interchange (EDI) systems. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).

What you should expect in this role

The MDL role exists to ensure: Commitments are real Risks are owned early Delivery outcomes are predictable Teams are empowered but accountable This is not a status-reporting role—it is a delivery ownership role critical to Gainwell's success. "MDLs are accountable for outcomes, not activity. Their success is measured by delivery confidence, quality, and trust." This posting is intended for pipelining. We will accept applications on an ongoing basis. The pay range for this position is $93,000 - $133,000 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
