Job description

CGS is looking for a part-time on-call Headquarters Support Team (HST) Analyst to support the US Army's Mission Command Training Program (MCTP) at Fort Leavenworth, KS.

While working with the Headquarters Support Team (HST) during Warfighter Exercises (WFX), our HST Analysts provide analytical and technical support using the Archiving and Enhanced Retrieval (ARCHER) system to the U.S. Army Mission Command Training Program (MCTP). MCTP enables commanders and staff to train in the art and science of mission command through large-scale Warfighter Exercises (WFX) and other collective training events. The ARCHER system is a government-provided, distributed collaborative analytic tool designed to capture, centralize, and visualize live and historical simulation data. ARCHER enables MCTP and supported training audiences to query and report data, generate digital products, and develop analytical outputs that inform After Action Reviews (AARs), exercise management, and key leader briefs.

The HST Analyst plays a key role in ensuring data accuracy, analytical rigor, and timely production of combat power and adjudication information for use by the Exercise Director, Opposing Force (OPFOR), and senior MCTP leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support MCTP S-3 Operations (S-3):
    • Provide combat power status updates for presentation to the Exercise Director during Exercise Control Group (ECG) meetings.
    • Conduct detailed data "forensics" to support operational adjudication decisions and ensure analytical transparency throughout the exercise.
  • Support the OPFOR Commander:
    • Deliver analytical assessments of OPFOR system performance and operational effectiveness against Blue Forces.
    • Analyze Blue Force effectiveness against the OPFOR to support operational evaluations and decisions during the exercise.
  • Support Senior Red Control:
    • Provide analytic and adjudication support to Senior Red Control, enabling accurate representation of combat outcomes, force status, and decision rationale.
    • Coordinate with simulation controllers, analysts, and operations staff to ensure data consistency and synchronization across analytic cells.
  • AAR Development Support:
    • Assist the OPFOR Commander and staff in developing After Action Review (AAR) products and presentations.
    • Use ARCHER data to produce visualizations, summaries, and trends that illustrate the operational narrative and training outcomes.
  • Operational Locations: Perform assigned duties both at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and at forward-deployed exercise locations as required in support of MCTP Warfighter Exercises (WFXs) and other events.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Word and PowerPoint software.
  • Familiar with current Army and Joint doctrine.
  • BS/BA degree with 5+ years of military experience, or high school education with 10 years military experience.
  • Active DOD Secret clearance is required.
  • Must be able to work at temporary training locations which restrict entry to only approved military, DoD personnel, and contractors.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with the Mission Command Training Program (MCTP) or other large-scale military training exercises (e.g., Warfighter Exercises).
  • Previous training with the ARCHER system.
  • Experience in Army simulation exercise analysis (e.g., WARSIM, JCATS, JLCCTC).
  • Military background or experience supporting Division- or Corps-level operations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to brief senior leaders.

Working Conditions: Inside Government training facilities.

Required Travel: Employees will travel to temporary work locations during exercises.

Job Type: Part-Time On-Call, Exempt

Contract Length: More than 1 year
