Job description

McMurry University seeks an energetic, relationship-focused Regional Admission Counselor to serve as the University's primary recruitment representative in the Dallas-Fort Worth region. The Regional Admission Counselor will develop and maintain strategic relationships with high schools, community organizations, churches, counselors, alumni, and prospective students while managing a recruitment territory designed to increase enrollment and enhance McMurry University's visibility.
This position serves as the face of McMurry University within the DFW market and is responsible for cultivating prospective students from inquiry through enrollment.
Travel Required: Extensive regional travel throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area and periodic travel through other areas in Texas and to McMurry University for university events.
Essential Responsibilities:
Territory Management & Recruitment
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive territory recruitment plan for assigned DFW counties.
  • Build and maintain relationships with high school counselors, administrators, teachers, coaches, and community leaders.
  • Conduct and/or attend at minimum 3 high school visits, college fairs, transfer fairs, and community events per week during the school year.
  • Identify opportunities to increase awareness and enrollment within assigned markets.
  • Maintain regular communication with prospective students and families.
  • Maintain membership in DARN (DFW Admissions Regional Network)

Student Recruitment & Enrollment
  • Counsel prospective students and families regarding admissions requirements, academic programs, scholarships, financial aid, campus life, and the enrollment process.
  • Manage a recruitment funnel from inquiry through enrollment.
  • Conduct individual appointments, virtual meetings, and group presentations.
  • Follow up with prospective students through phone, text, email, and CRM campaigns.
  • Assist students in completing admissions and financial aid requirements.

Relationship Development
  • Develop partnerships with high schools, community colleges, churches, homeschool organizations, and community groups.
  • Coordinate counselor breakfasts, regional receptions, and recruitment events.
  • Engage McMurry alumni and supporters within the DFW region to support recruitment efforts.
  • Partner with coaches, faculty, and university representatives when appropriate.

Event Support
  • Assist with planning and execution of:
    • Preview Events
    • Admitted Student Days
    • Campus Visit Programs
    • Special Enrollment Events
    • SOAR - support the execution of Student Orientation and Registration between June and August.
  • Travel to campus periodically to support major admissions initiatives.

Data & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records within the University's CRM system.
  • Track recruitment activity and enrollment outcomes.
  • Analyze territory trends and recommend strategies for improvement.
  • Submit regular reports regarding territory performance and recruitment efforts.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively throughout the DFW Metroplex.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative admissions team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM technology.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous admissions, enrollment management, recruitment, sales, marketing, or relationship-management experience.
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems such as Slate, Jenzabar, or similar platforms.
  • Experience conducting presentations and public speaking.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is highly preferred

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to travel frequently throughout assigned territory.
  • Ability to transport recruitment materials and displays.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods at recruitment events and college fairs.
