You will collaborate with other platform engineering teams, designers, and product experts across the globe to build secure, scalable, and high-performing cloud platforms that underpin McKinsey's client service, practices, and domains in delivering distinctive, tech-enabled impact.
As a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, you'll architect, implement, and optimize cloud-native infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and GCP that enable McKinsey's global technology ecosystem.
You will design and build resilient systems that power McKinsey's internal platforms focusing on scalability, observability, and operational excellence. You'll partner closely with product teams, cloud vendors, and internal stakeholders to deliver infrastructure that meets the firm's stringent standards for performance, security, and compliance.
You will serve as a senior individual contributor, advising on best practices in cloud infrastructure, mentoring junior colleagues, and collaborating globally to shape McKinsey's approach to platform engineering.
You will also apply and champion AI-assisted development and infrastructure management practices by leveraging AI tools for configuration, development, testing, and documentation to enhance productivity, quality, and engineering efficiency across teams.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Designing, deploying, and maintaining multi-cloud infrastructure and core services supporting Platform McKinsey applications
Driving architectural decision-making, documenting designs in Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), and ensuring alignment with firm-wide engineering standards
Implementing infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, managing and optimizing container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, Serverless)
Collaborating with software engineers and DevOps teams to automate CI/CD pipelines and ensure smooth deployments across environments
Applying DevSecOps principles to enhance security, observability, and reliability of production systems
Working with cloud vendors and internal product teams to evaluate new services, features, and integration opportunities
Leading initiatives to improve developer experience, including self-service tools, automation frameworks, and infrastructure blueprints
Providing mentorship and guidance to junior engineers across global locations

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  • 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, cloud engineering, or DevOps
  • Experience in Cloud infrastructure development, support and optimization strategies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.)
  • Strong experience with Docker, Kubernetes, serverless and other application runtime platforms, Terraform and other infrastructure automation tools
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Terraform Cloud) and security tools (Sonarqube, Wiz, Gitguardian)
  • Familiarity with networking, identity and access management, and security best practices across cloud environments
  • Experience in technology planning and designing scalable cloud architecture
  • Awareness and practical experience of GenAI concepts and ways of working: agents, MCP, A2A, development tools (Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot)
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, identify clear options, and drive consensus on a path forward
  • Ownership mindset: proactive, strategic, and hands-on in leading by example
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams globally
  • Proficiency in English, both verbal and written
