Job Description

As a Station Agent, you’ll be at the heart of our ground operations by completing various ramp, cleaning, and passenger assistance duties.  You’ll work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment where teamwork, safety, and attention to detail are essential. From loading baggage and cargo to cleaning cabin interiors and providing wheelchair assistance, you’ll help keep our flights running smoothly and on schedule. If you’re ready for a physically active role that makes a real impact, we want to hear from you. 

Ramp duties may include 

  • Safely lift, load, unload, and transport baggage, mail, and cargo to and from aircraft. 
  • Sort, scan, and route checked baggage in the bagroom according to flight destination, priority status, and transfer requirements. 
  • Receive inbound transfer baggage from arriving flights and ensure timely delivery to outbound flights within established connection windows. 
  • Deliver passenger luggage and cargo to designated locations. 
  • Guide incoming and departing aircraft from the gate using hand signals and wing walking procedures. 
  • Service aircraft water and lavatory. 
  • Safely driving and operating ground equipment such as tugs, belt loaders, and tow tractors in areas of congestion. 
  • Operate baggage scanners and computers to ensure baggage is routed accurately to the customer's destination. 

Cabin cleaning duties may include 

  • Thoroughly clean and sanitize passenger cabins, including seats, seatback pockets, tray tables, armrests, overhead bins, carpets, and windows. 
  • Clean and disinfect lavatories and galleys; restock supplies such as soap, toilet paper, sanitary bags and towels. 
  • Empty trash receptacles in lavatories, galleys, and flight deck; ensure proper disposal of waste and handling of biohazard or spill clean-up using PPE and approved disinfectants. 
  • Restock cabin items such as pillows, blankets, magazines, amenity kits, and safety cards; maintain inventory of cleaning materials and cabin supplies. 

Passenger Assistance duties may include 

  • Push wheelchairs for passengers requiring assistance. 
  • Assist passengers requiring wheelchair assistance with checking and claiming luggage. 

Additional responsibilities include

  • Maintain clear communication with flight crews and other ground personnel. 
  • Monitor weather conditions and take appropriate safety measures. 
  • Perform regular equipment inspections and basic maintenance checks. 
  • Comply with all federal, state, municipal, airport authority and carrier safety and security requirements. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support McGee’s successful business operation. 
Qualifications

Required 

  • A valid driver's license with a good driving record. 
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test. 
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check. 
  • Ability to obtain & maintain an airport SIDA badge, US Customs seal, and USPS security clearance. 
  • Ability to work any shift, including early mornings, late nights, weekends and Holidays. 
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds on a frequent basis. 
  • Ability to push passengers weighing up to 200 pounds in a wheelchair. 
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken). 
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, reach, and grasp. 
  • Ability to maintain reliable attendance. 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to get along with others. 
  • Ability to work at a constant and quick pace for up to two consecutive hours. 
  • Understanding and ability to utilize electronic tools to interpret flight schedules and airline flight destination information 
  • Performing basic mathematical functions (e.g., counting bags, verifying cargo weights) 
  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Must be at least 18 years of age. 
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. 

Preferred 

  • Previous airport experience. 
  • Previous experience working in a physically demanding or safety critical job. 

Additional Information

Physical Demands & Work Conditions 
Lifting/Carrying: Ability to frequently lift, push, pull, and carry baggage and cargo weighing up to 50 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 75 pounds or more. This often involves lifting items onto raised surfaces or into confined aircraft bins. 

Movement: 

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, squatting, crawling, and twisting for extended periods (up to 8-hour shifts or more). 

  • Ability to climb stairs/ladders and work in cramped or high places. 

  • Manual dexterity required for handling documents and operating equipment. 

Driving/Operating Equipment: Must be able to operate various ground support equipment (GSE) such as tugs, belt loaders, and baggage carts, which requires a valid driver's license and the physical capability to do so safely. 

Vision/Hearing: Clear vision (including depth perception and peripheral vision) and hearing are required for monitoring flight information, communication via radio/headsets, and safety compliance in a noisy environment. 

Outdoor Exposure: The job is performed primarily outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow. 

Noise and Environment: The work environment is very noisy, near active aircraft engines and ground support machinery, and may involve exposure to fumes, dust, and other airborne particles. Hearing protection is usually provided and required. 

Physical Capabilities Testing
This position requires significant physical agility; you may be required to complete a Physical Capabilities Test post offer that will demonstrate your ability to:

  • Lift, carry, and place weighted standardized boxes, suitcases, or duffel bags from floor height to overhead.
  • Climb steps carrying weighted standardized box, suitcase, or duffel bags.
  • Sit and rotate to the left, right, and behind and visually identify a letter or number.
  • Pull a weighted sled a standardized distance.

Union Information
This position is part of a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).   Per the CBA, work schedules are awarded based on seniority. New hires are awarded their initial shift based on operational need.  Therefore, the company cannot guarantee certain days off.
