Job Title: Teacher of the Visually Impaired
Job Location: Montgomery County ESC - Regional Center (Daily Travel to Client Districts Required)
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience
Full/Part-Time: Full-Time
Who We Are:
We're a premier provider of high quality, cost effective, special education services in Ohio. We serve 16 public school districts in our county and more than 130 educational entities across Ohio. #WeAreMCESC!
What You'll Do:
- Develop and deliver lesson plans aligned with state standards, district curriculum, and IEP goals.
- Assist with student identification, evaluations, parent conferences, IEP development, and periodic reviews.
- Provide direct instruction in Braille, readiness skills, daily living skills, concept development, and other specialized skills for visually impaired students.
- Select and implement appropriate reading media (Braille, large print, digital formats).
- Align teaching strategies with individual learning styles and use evidence-based instructional techniques.
- Track student progress using formative and summative assessments; provide timely feedback.
- Develop and implement activities that support sensory processing and functional independence.
- Communicate IEP and SDI objectives clearly to families and staff.
- Participate in team meetings to plan services relevant to student needs.
- Use positive behavioral interventions to support communication, self-regulation, socialization, and independence.
