Job description


Job Title: Athletic Training Aide
Effective Date: 07/22/2026
Reports to: Associate Athletic Trainer
Department: Athletics
Rate of Pay: Maryland Minimum Wage
FSLA Status: Non-Exempt
Location of Position: Gill Center, McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, MD 21157
Duration of Appointment: August 5, 2026 to May 25, 2027
Schedule: Schedule is at discretion of supervisor
Evaluation Procedures: Student workers are evaluated on a continuous basis.
Scope: Assist Certified Athletic Trainers in daily and weekly tasks for maintaining a professional medical setting.
Responsibilities:
  • Field preparation for athletic practices and games, consisting of filling water coolers & bottles, prepping emergency equipment, and other related tasks
  • Potential administrative tasks (i.e. filing, organizing, and shredding)
  • Restocking the Athletic Training Rooms, taping tables, supplies, etc. as needed
  • Pre-practice preparation of blisters and taping if cleared by a staff athletic trainer after showing acceptable skill and technique
Requirements:
Qualifications:
  • Current undergraduate student at McDaniel College.
  • Interest in Sports Medicine/Healthcare Preferred
  • Must be CPR/AED and First Aid Certified
  • Hold a Valid Driver's License to be able to Operate the Gator
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to accurately assess and handle phone calls, student-athlete and coaches requests, etc., with discretion and a positive attitude
  • Discretion and reliability in sensitive and confidential matters are vital
Physical Characteristics:
  • This job requires the ability to lift and move 40-80 lbs multiple times during the setup of practice water stations.
  • Standing for extended periods of time (approx. 3-4 hours on average, can be more or less) with walking and potentially running; both indoor and outdoor settings, with potential exposure to heat, cold, and rain/snow
  • Repetitive positional changes while filing, stocking, and performing other tasks
