Description

SAIC's Solutions & Technology Group (STG) is seeking an experienced MBSE Sr. Principal Digital Engineerto join our team of experts. This position will lead the development, execution, and maturation of cutting-edge Digital Engineering solutions in support of Defense, Federal Civilian, and/or National Security customers and their systems. This role focuses on advancing model-based systems engineering (MBSE), digital engineering (DE), and system-of-systems (SoS) capabilities to address evolving engineering challenges and deliver mission success.

This position requires onsite work in San Diego, CA. Flexibility to travel up to10% of the timeis required for this role. You will work alongside a team of experts and stakeholders in a dynamic, mission-driven environment to advance cutting-edge capabilities in support of national security objectives.

As a thought leader and systems engineering expert, you will support the integration of MBSE methodologies and standards for the development ofstructured expressions,SoS architectures, andmission engineering frameworksto enhance program solutions and strengthen national security capabilities.

You will serve as a mentor and work alongside a team of experts and stakeholders in a dynamic, mission-driven environment to advance cutting-edge capabilities in support of national security objectives.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and execution of digital engineering and MBSE solutions for complex military systems and missions.
  • Build and optimize digital models for requirements capture and analysis using MBSE techniques, SysML, and tools like Cameo/MagicDraw or Rhapsody.
  • Design and modelsystem-of-systems (SoS) architectures, understanding structured expressions and capturing complex interactions and ensuring technical coherence.
  • Promote and implement systems/digital engineering best practices to improve mission outcomes, enhance stakeholder collaboration, and enable advanced simulations and analyses.
  • ApplyMission Engineering principlesto design and evaluate solutions aligned with operational scenarios and mission objectives.
  • Represent technical work in working groups, exchange meetings, and executive briefings to communicate progress, insights, and innovative concepts.
  • Mentor engineering teamson MBSE standards and methods, fostering proficiency across projects.
  • Oversee systems engineering processes throughout the lifecycle, including architecture, requirements, CONOPS, interface control, and verification.
  • As required, support business development through proposal generation, customer engagement, and crafting innovative solutions tailored to mission challenges.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry advancements, and tools to integrate innovative practices into digital engineering methodologies.
Qualifications Required Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree with14+ years of related experience; OR Master's with12+ years of experience; OR PhD with9+ years of experience

  • ActiveTS clearance with SCI eligibility

  • US Citizenship required

  • Proven experience applying systems and digital/MBSE engineering methods across defense, civilian, or national security domains.

  • Advanced expertise using MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo/MagicDraw, Rhapsody) and frameworks (e.g., SysML, UPDM, UML, UAF).

  • Broad systems engineering experience in architecture, requirements, CONOPS, and verification.

  • Familiarity with US Government systems engineering processes and priorities, particularly for theDepartment of War (DoW)(formerly DoD).

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills to execute tasks and foster collaboration in dynamic environments.

  • Proficient in briefing complex topics to senior leaders and producing high-quality technical documentation.
  • Skilled in integratingMission Engineering principlesinto system solutions.
  • Familiarity with tools likeModelCenter,AFSIM, SIMULIA,DNG, andRQMfor multidisciplinary modeling & simulation, analysis and lifecycle management.
Desired Skills
  • OMG Certified System Modeling Professional (OCSMP)certification.
  • INCOSE certification (ASEP, CSEP, ESEP) based on experience.
  • Experience withScaled Agile Framework (SAFe)or similar iterative development models.
  • Proven leadership of systems engineering teams through theentire Digital Engineering/MBSE lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of DoW acquisition processes (DODI 5000.02, JCIDS, IEEE 15288).
  • Familiarity withNAVWAR and PEO C4I systemsor domain-specific programs likeBAIO.
  • Expertise with tools includingMATLAB, STK, AFSIM, Aras Innovator,Phoenix ModelCenter, or similar.
  • Ability to configure and manageModel-Based Engineering toolsfor collaboration optimization.
