Overview:


The Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS) Trader will be responsible for managing and executing trades of agency and non-agency MBS products, contributing to the bank's fixed income trading desk's profitability and risk management objectives.
Responsibilities:

  • Execute trades in various MBS products, including TBA mortgage-backed securities, specified pools, and whole loans.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with institutional clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders to facilitate trading activities.

  • Monitor market conditions, economic indicators, and regulatory changes relevant to the MBS market and provide timely insights to the trading team.

  • Analyze complex MBS structures, cash flows, and prepayment models to identify trading opportunities and assess risk.

  • Manage the desk's MBS inventory, hedging strategies, and exposure to interest rate and credit risk.

  • Collaborate with sales, financing, credit, and risk teams to provide comprehensive client solutions.

  • Ensure compliance with all internal policies, risk limits, and regulatory requirements.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of trading strategies and models.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field. Master's degree or CFA designation preferred.

  • 3+years of experience in MBS trading, preferably on an institutional trading desk.

  • Deep understanding of MBS market dynamics, pricing conventions, and trading protocols.

  • Proven track record of generating consistent trading profits while effectively managing risk.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis tools (e.g., Bloomberg, Intex, Excel, VBA, Python).

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure trading environment.

  • FINRA Series 7 and Series 63 licenses required.
