Job description

POSITION: Junior Varsity Girls Volleyball Coach

SALARY: Stipend $1,700 (Paid at Completion of Season)
CLOSING DATE: Open Until Filled
REPORTS TO: Athletic Director

POSITION SUMMARY

The Junior Varsity Girls Volleyball Coach is responsible for assisting in the development and supervision of the school's volleyball program while preparing student-athletes for advancement to the varsity level. The coach will promote sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, skill development, and academic accountability while maintaining compliance with district and AIA regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certificate verifying completion of the NFHS online Fundamentals of Coaching course, or approved equivalent (AIA Rule 17.1). (District will pay for certification.)
  • Certificate verifying completion of the NFHS online Concussion in Sports What You Need to Know course (AIA Rule 17.1). (District will pay for certification.)
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification (District-provided certification class available.)
  • Knowledge of volleyball fundamentals, techniques, rules, and safety procedures
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Knowledge necessary to adhere to rules and regulations established by the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) and Gila Bend Unified School District No. 24
  • Attendance at mandatory district and athletic department meetings required

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and conduct practices and competitions for the junior varsity volleyball program
  • Teach volleyball fundamentals, teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership skills
  • Assist in developing athletes for advancement within the volleyball program
  • Supervise student-athletes during practices, competitions, travel, and team activities
  • Maintain communication with athletes, parents, administration, and the athletic department
  • Utilize online athletic platforms such as MaxPreps, HUDL, and other required systems
  • Support fundraising, team-building, and community service activities
  • Ensure compliance with all district, league, AIA, and NFHS policies and procedures

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to pass a fingerprint and background clearance check and obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS)
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license
  • May be required to work evenings, weekends, and outside normal working hours
  • May be required to travel for competitions and related functions
