Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineering Summer Intern to support our engineering and maintenance teams. This role provides hands-on experience in project management, maintenance planning, and reliability analysis within an industrial or manufacturing environment. The intern will contribute to small-scale projects, assist in coordinating maintenance activities, and work within our CMMS platform, MaintainX, to improve operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support project management activities for small engineering and maintenance projects, including planning, scheduling, tracking progress, and documentation.
• Assist in developing and coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance plans to ensure equipment reliability and uptime.
• Work within the MaintainX CMMS system to create, update, and manage work orders, asset records, and maintenance schedules.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, maintenance) to ensure timely execution of maintenance tasks.
• Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to equipment performance, downtime, and maintenance effectiveness.
• Analyze downtime and reliability data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.
• Prepare reports and visualizations to communicate findings and support data-driven decision-making.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on increasing equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
• Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance procedures, project updates, and analysis results.
Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems, maintenance principles, and engineering fundamentals.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
• Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, MATLAB, or similar) is preferred.
• Interest or experience in project management concepts is a plus.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
