Systems Performance Assessment Engineer Salary Range: $100,000-$148,000 annually
Location: Redstone Gateway, Huntsville, Alabama
Clearance: Active DoD Secret required POSITION SUMMARY We are seeking a Systems Performance Assessment Engineer to evaluate the performance of a mission-critical command-and-control system. The selected candidate will develop post-processing analysis tools, analyze large datasets, detect performance regressions following software changes, and translate analytical findings into actionable development tasks. This position requires a combination of software engineering, systems analysis, data analysis, and technical communication skills. The engineer will work across analysis and development teams and prepare detailed documentation and presentations for internal and external leadership. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Develop ad hoc post-processing tools and plots to assess system performance.
- Use Java, Python, MATLAB, or comparable technologies to create analytical tools.
- Track software-development updates and identify performance regressions following code changes.
- Analyze large datasets using established technical performance metrics and special-interest measurements.
- Evaluate system timing, track quality, discrimination accuracy, and other performance parameters.
- Conduct detailed analysis to identify technical trends, performance issues, and root causes.
- Translate analytical findings into concrete, actionable development tasks.
- Serve as a technical liaison between analysts and software developers.
- Create analysis documents, charts, technical briefings, and leadership presentations.
- Present performance findings to technical and nontechnical stakeholders. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - Active DoD Secret clearance.
- Three or more years of related software engineering, systems analysis, performance assessment, or technical-analysis experience.
- Applied software-engineering experience.
- Experience producing tools or analytical products used to assess a system or project.
- Experience creating and briefing technical charts, analysis packages, or performance findings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to work on-site in Huntsville, Alabama. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Java, Python, C++, or MATLAB programming experience.
- Experience developing analysis tools in Java or Python.
- Database-management, networking, or data-communications experience.
- Jenkins, HTCondor, GitLab, or comparable DevOps-tool experience.
- Statistical hypothesis testing and statistical-distribution analysis.
- Model validation, inferential statistics, and confidence-interval estimation.
- Experience interpreting goodness-of-fit tests.
- DoD information-systems engineering experience.
- Experience with servers, storage, virtual machines, system architecture, and networking.
