JOB TITLE:
CASM Tutor
JOB PURPOSE:
Provide support to students with questions in mathematics and/or statistics for the Center for Assistance with Statistics and Mathematics (CASM).
JFNTMP
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tutor for Center for Assistance with Statistics and Mathematics (CASM), and, if assigned, tutor for STEP and/or STEP Satellite.
  • As a tutor, primary job responsibilities will be addressing student questions regarding their math/stat courses.
  • Tutors will be required to follow and enforce CASM policy and procedure, and if assigned to STEP or STEP Satellite, follow and enforce STEP policy and procedure.
  • Tutors will need to have excellent time management skills.
  • Tutors need to be excellent and flexible communicators via email, and in-person.
  • New tutors are required to attend regular tutor content trainings.
  • New tutors are required to attend CRLA (College Reading and Learning Association) trainings unless they have a Level 1 certification.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education: Some college
  • Experience: Some college math/stat and/or tutoring experience

Other requirements:
  • Knowledge proficiency in mathematics up to Calculus II and/or Fundamentals of Statistics
  • Must be a currently enrolled UW student.
  • For math tutors successful completion of Calculus 1-3 with a B average or higher OR Calculus 1-2 with a B average or higher and prior tutoring experience.
  • For stat tutors successful completion of Stat 2050 (Fundamentals of Statistics) or equivalent with a B or higher AND either additional statistics experience OR math and programing experience.
