Job description

The Quality Engineer’s role is to support activities to improve quality and efficiency of product at the customer, internal, and supplier levels. These activities will include working with: customers and suppliers on PPAPs, audits, and corrective action projects; monitoring and reporting on KPIs including customer scorecards, supplier performance, and internal metrics; performing gage and capability studies; updating and controlling documents; problem solving; auditing and improving our internal processes; training operators and inspectors; calibrating gages and managing the calibration process.

This is an on-site position. Within state candidates are preferred.

What You'll Do:

 

  • Coordinate APQP activities with the responsible Manufacturing Engineer for all products, existing and new launches. This includes AIAG core tools (FMEA, MSA, Control Plans, PPAP & SPC) and applicable customer specifics.
  • Lead, conduct, document, compile, interpret, and participate in:
  • Gage R&R Studies
  • Capability Studies
  • Corrective Action and Improvement Projects
  • Put together PPAP submission to customers and upload to customer portals.
  • Determine Supplier PPAP requirements, review, and disposition PPAP submissions.
  • Lead or participate in root cause analysis for corrective actions from the management of containment activities through 8D closure.
  • Perform audits as required, which may include layered, process (Control Plan), supplier, safety, product, and systems audits.
  • Regularly communicate with Engineering, Manufacturing and Purchasing to identify opportunities for internal and supplier process improvements.
  • Measure and monitor KPI metrics
  • Participates as a trainer in Quality Control and Manufacturing employee training programs.
  • Interpret product drawings and technical standards to develop and implement quality controls and product check methods.
  • Manage Document Control activities
  • Manage and perform calibration activities
  • Manage Nonconforming Material Reviews – document, track, update system, disposition, and lead MRB meetings.
  • Maintain 8D, Quality Alert and Visual Aid tracking logs.

  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
