SUMMARY
The Math Academic Coordinator for grades 7-12 will play a pivotal role in fostering academic excellence in mathematics education within our urban school district. The coordinator will work closely with teachers, administrators, and stakeholders to develop and implement strategies to enhance math curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices. The primary goal is to ensure that all students receive high-quality math education that prepares them for success in higher education and beyond.. This is a 260 - day twenty-four pay Administrator contract with paid vacation, holidays, and personal days.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitor and support the implementation of the district prescribed curriculum and instructional practices. (Including core curriculum, supplemental resources, and intervention programming.)
  • Create and maintain instructional guides for content and grade levels within their purview.
  • Create and maintain formative common assessments for the content and grade levels within their purview.
  • Meet regularly as a member of the Curriculum Team to define building and district level professional development resource needs.
  • Construct school intervention plans.
  • Provide classroom coaching to teachers.
  • Consult with building principals to identify and meet individual teacher needs for additional support and instructional improvement. Make recommendations to principals regarding remedies for deficiencies.
  • Plan, develop and coordinate site based staff development exercises.
  • Coordinate and facilitate professional learning communities within their content area.
  • Coordinate professional development training and support with third-party providers when necessary. Schedule the sessions/visits and keep in contact with both district and outside personnel about topics and progress.
  • Provide classroom coaching to teachers and keep a record of communication as well as the focus of the coaching sessions.
  • Conduct informal classroom walkthroughs weekly. Submit notes in the Curriculum Department's walkthrough tool. Communicate feedback and follow up with teachers after visiting.
  • Analyze district assessment data and share recommendations at the district, building, and teacher level.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the U.S.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Education with a current Teaching License within the content area and supervisory/administrator certification/licensure or ability to obtain an Alternative Administrators License. Master's Degree preferred.
  • A Minimum of five years teaching experience in the content area. Urban classroom/administrative experience preferred.
  • Documented experience in a building leadership/supervisory role.
  • Knowledge and experience with research-based, effective instructional practices.
  • Curriculum development experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Knowledge of the district's curriculum, state standards and state assessment systems.

  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, kneel, stoop, and climb stairs
  • Occasionally lift and/or move lightweight items up to 40 lbs.
