Denver Health Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Physician to join our OBGYN team. The MFM team at Denver Health provides specialized care to pregnant patients considered moderate to high risk, supporting them from pre-conception through the post-partum period. Our physicians provide consultation to colleagues throughout the Denver Health network, including advanced practice providers such as Certified Nurse Midwives and Nurse Practitioners, generalist OB/GYN and Family Medicine providers.

Denver Health serves the underserved populations of the city and county of Denver, primarily caring for patients who are government-insured and medically and socially complex. With approximately 4,000 births annually, the Department delivers full-scope obstetric and gynecologic services. About half of these patients receive care in our OB/GYN clinics staffed by OB/GYN physicians and advanced practice providers (CNMs and NPs), while the remainder are served through community clinics with Family Medicine providers.
As a teaching affiliate of the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, Denver Health is highly invested in educating the next generation of the healthcare workforce. Faculty members in the OB/GYN Department engage regularly in teaching residents and medical students, contributing both clinically and in didactic settings. In addition, our physicians hold academic appointments through the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
The MFM Physician plays a critical role in guiding and coordinating care for moderate and high- risk patients, while also participating in the broader obstetric care at Denver Health. Responsibilities include, but are not limited:
  • Attending and precepting High-Risk and Diabetic OB Clinics
  • Reading and interpreting obstetric ultrasounds and providing consultations for abnormal findings
  • Collaborating with genetic counselor(s)
  • Performing specialized obstetric procedures, such as amniocentesis and cervical cerclage
  • Participating in multidisciplinary care conferences for complex patients
  • Providing inpatient consultation for critically ill and high-risk OB patients
  • Offering expert consultation for outpatient high-risk patients
  • Leadership opportunities if desired

Essential Functions:
  • Collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical histories, reports, or examination results (20%)
  • Care for and treat patients with high-risk pregnancies (60%)
  • Perform specialized obstetrical procedures (5%)
  • Participate in or support education and research (10%)

Education:
  • Doctorate Degree Graduate of an accredited medical school Required
  • Post Graduate Diploma or Certificate Program ABOG certified Obstetrics and Gynecology Required and
  • Post Graduate Diploma or Certificate Program ABOG board-eligible or certified Maternal fetal Medicine Required

Work Experience:
  • 1-3 years Directly related experience

Licenses:
  • OBGYN-Obstetrics and Gynecology Certification - AAFP - American Academy of Family Physicians Required and
  • MD-Physician - State Medical Board Required
  • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.
  • Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while providing quality medical care.
  • Able to receive detailed information through oral communications; express or exchange ideas by verbal communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, listening, and social skills.
  • Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value systems.
  • Performs in a tactful and professional manner.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Computer skills required.
