OPERATIONS MANAGER

Purpose:
The Operations Manager is responsible for the overall performance, efficiency, and profitability of Distribution Center operations by providing strategic leadership across all operational functions. This role ensures the seamless flow of product while driving operational excellence, inventory accuracy, workforce development, and safety. The Operations Manager partners cross-functionally to optimize processes, achieve business objectives, and foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence that supports the company's growth.
General Description of duties: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employees may perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization. Ensure adherence to designated policies and procedures with a company focus on mind.
  • Operate across the DC, Customer service, and delivery as operation needs
  • Spend approximately 80% of time actively present in the operations, leading continuous improvement and change initiatives firsthand
  • Own full P&L-level accountability for Distribution Center operations, providing strategic and day-to-day leadership across all functional departments
  • Directly lead, develop, and hold accountable a team of Operations Supervisors, with indirect oversight of a workforce of associates across multiple shifts and departments
  • Build and manage staffing plans, schedules, and labor budgets to align headcount and overtime with volume, seasonality, and service-level commitments
  • Own end-to-end product flow through the facility, ensuring inbound receipt, put-away, prep, storage, and outbound delivery/pick-up all operate as one connected system rather than isolated departments
  • Establish, monitor, and report key performance indicators - staffing attainment, throughput, inventory accuracy, on-time and complete delivery, damage/defect rates, and safety incidents
  • Partner cross-functionally with Customer Care, Sales, Merchandising, and 3rd-party delivery/carrier partners to ensure the Distribution Center supports a best-in-class experience for customers and showroom partners receiving product
  • Lead recruiting, onboarding, training, coaching, performance management, and progressive discipline for the DC workforce in partnership with the Talent Management Team
  • Drive continuous improvement by designing, documenting, and enforcing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), applying Lean/Six Sigma principles to eliminate waste and variability
  • Review and resolve escalated order, inventory, and customer service issues; identify root causes and upstream trends to reduce recurring exceptions
  • Manage inventory integrity through cycle counts, reconciliation, and shrink control across all departments
  • Own facility safety culture: conduct routine walks, safety audits, and toolbox talks; ensure OSHA and company safety standards, PPE compliance, and safe operation of powered industrial equipment
  • Oversee facility security and readiness, including opening/closing procedures, perimeter checks, and alarm system management
  • Manage capital equipment and material handling assets (forklifts, dock equipment, racking, RF/WMS technology), coordinating maintenance and replacement planning
  • Plan for peak-season volume surges and promotional events, adjusting staffing, shift structures, and space utilization accordingly
  • Analyze and report operational performance to senior leadership, translating data into actionable recommendations

Qualifications:
  • Proven ability to lead complex, multi-functional operations
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Strong working knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory control practices, and Microsoft Office/Excel
  • Safety-first mindset with working knowledge of OSHA regulations and powered industrial equipment operation
  • Demonstrated success driving operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and team development
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization

Requirements:
  • Associate's Degree in Business, Operations Management, or related field experience preferred
  • 3-5 years of progressive supervisory or managerial experience, including managing other leaders
  • 5+ years of experience in a distribution center, warehouse, or manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience owning labor budgets, staffing plans, and performance metrics
  • Experience overseeing service metrics, operational KPIs, and cross-functional initiatives
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including overtime, weekends, holidays, and peak-season hours as needed
