Overall Responsibilities 

In this newly created role, the Materials Manager, you will be responsible for production planning, production scheduling, material coordination and shipping activities allowing for the successful on time delivery of our products. Must be a master at scheduling, solving complex problems and daily challenges. Maximizes the production on each line running 24/7.  The Materials Manager proactively makes adjustments ahead of time to maximize line performance. Possesses a competitive spirit with the ability to make quick decisions resulting in immediate changes.  The manager will provide strong leadership to support the production team, production schedulers, shipping and material management personnel. Works diligently to "win" for the organization making solid decisions, thinking through all options. However, customer "winning" is a priority. 


Key Responsibilities 
  • Production Planning and Scheduling. Developing and implementing production plans, schedules, and priorities based on customer demands and resource availability. Ensures efficient resource allocation and timely completion of tasks with a sense of urgency. Ability to create and manage master production schedules aligning production with demand and other business requirements. 
  • Inventory Management. Monitoring inventory levels, managing materials procurement, and minimizing waste and excess inventory. Tracking and monitoring inventory levels in real time to know what's on hand, what's been sold, and what needs replenishment. 
  • Production Monitoring and control. Tracking production progress, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing corrective actions to maintain smooth operations. Ability to assess data and reports, quickly identifying any needs for scheduling changes working with the production scheduler.
  • Transportation. Manages and organizes the scheduling of truck transportation. Evaluates vendors and rates of transportation. Supervises the Shipping Supervisor and works together to ensure on time deliveries. 
  • Team Leadership and Management. Must LOVE working with people. Supervises and motivates the scheduler, material ordering personnel and shipping supervisor. Provides guidance, supports and fosters a positive work environment. 
  • Communication and Collaboration. Effectively communicates with various departments, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless production and delivery. Must be able to build trust with others to gain buy-in for evolving changes to schedules and production. Works with cross functional teams to improve efficiencies.
  • Process Improvement. Analyzes production data, identifies areas for improvement, and implements strategies to enhance efficiency and reduce costs using a common-sense approach.  
  •  Data Analysis. Analyzing production data to identify trends, pinpoint bottlenecks, and make data-driven decisions for process optimization. 
  • Organizational skills. Manages multiple tasks, projects and resources effectively. Prioritizes tasks and manages time effectively to meet deadlines. Must be extremely flexible and accepting of change. 
  • Safety and Quality. Responsible to say something if you see something in our overall production area. 

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field such as data analytics, business, finance, engineering, or operations management is required.  A combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirements.
  • 5+ years proven experience in offensive production coordination, production control, preferably with prior supervisory or management experience. Must LOVE manufacturing and have a competitive winning spirit. 
  • High proficiency utilizing computer software: Excel, production control software and systems, including ERP systems and inventory management tools. 
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills are essential for success in this role. 
  • Experience with LEAN manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, and relevant regulations is preferred. 
  • Strong communication skills working with all levels in the organization and ability to learn quickly.
  • Willingness to be hands-on and adaptable in a dynamic, startup environment. 
  • This is an in-person work environment. This role operates within a 24/7 manufacturing facility and may require occasional off-shift coordination, weekend oversight, or emergency response to production issues.


Work Environment

Exposure to manufacturing environment including noise, machinery, and varying temperatures.

Must be able to walk throughout manufacturing facility as needed regularly during the workday.
