Clinical Pharmacist SME Informatics

Hybrid - South Carolina

Novant Health is seeking a Pharmacy Informaticist, supporting the South Carolina Region!

The Clinical Pharmacist SME Informatics will leverage their expertise in pharmacy and informatics to enhance medication safety, optimize pharmacy workflows, and support clinical decision-making through technology. This role involves investigating medication-related issues, coordinating with stakeholders, preparing educational materials, and managing various administrative tasks.

Qualifications:

  • PharmD or equivalent degree (Required)

  • Experience in pharmacy informatics or related field (Required).

  • PGY2 Pharmacy Informatics residency (preferred)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities.

  • Proficiency in using informatics tools and software.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with Epic, ServiceNow, Alaris, BD Pyxis systems.

  • Experience in educational material preparation and presentation.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigation:

  • Conduct investigations related to medication safety events and issues from frontline staff.

  • Scope opportunities for new pharmacy builds and medication alerts.

  • Review issues from non-pharmacy staff related to medications and pharmacy processes.

  • Administration:

  • Coordinate stakeholder support for Epic enhancement and changes related to medications, order Sets, therapy plans, treatment plans, and medication alerts.

  • Complete approvals request in ServiceNow, Agile tasks, and removal of outdated requests.

  • Prioritize pharmacy requests and enhancements for Willow Sprint planning and status inquiries.

  • Communication:

  • Create presentations for submittance to governance committees for review.

  • Facilitate incident resolutions between frontline staff and IT department.

  • Submit medication-related changes and pharmacy process enhancements in Epic with sufficient details and minimal revisions.

  • Testing:

  • Conduct testing in Epic for medication builds, medication alerts, Our Practice Advisories (OPAs formerly known as BPAs), and enhancements.

  • Education:

  • Prepare and coordinate educational materials for nursing, providers, and pharmacy staff, including weekly IT emails, 4Ps, and Shortage PAs.

  • Go Live Support:

  • Provide on-site support during upgrades and go-live events.

  • Collaboration:

  • Provide informatics insight during recurring and ad hoc meetings, including weekly drug shortage calls and PILOT meetings.

  • Identify pharmacy informatics-related tasks and complete

What We're Looking For

  • Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree , required. Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy, Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Committee (FPGEC) Certification. PharmD, preferred.

  • Experience: Postgraduate year 1 residency or fellowship OR two years of experience as a registered pharmacist in health system pharmacy. Oncology experience preferred for oncology roles, required.

  • For Infectious Diseases/Antimicrobial Stewardship roles: ASHP - accredited PGY2 Infectious Disease residency OR minimum of 2 years of equivalent clinical pharmacy experience in infectious diseases/antimicrobial stewardship, required.

  • Licensure/Certification: Current Pharmacy licensure in appropriate state(s) or must be completed within 30 days of start date by either examination or reciprocity, required.

  • Board of Pharmacy Specialties Certification or other approved certification must be obtained and continuously maintained within 2 years of start date as applicable to the role, required.

  • Additional Skills (required): Other duties as outlined in Novant Health and facility specific policies and procedures. Ability to drive/travel to multiple facilities/locations as needed. Ability to work as part of a high performing, change ready and resilient team.
