The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant's years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.



What You Will Do
The Information Systems (IS) Training and Education Specialist develops and delivers application-specific education to support end-user proficiency with Epic and related information systems. Serving as a domain expert in at least one core Epic area (Ambulatory, Inpatient, or Revenue Cycle), the IS Training and Education Specialist creates and maintains curriculum that reflects production workflows, ensures training environment integrity, and leads onboarding and upgrade training sessions. This role partners with analysts, informaticists, and operational leaders to provide high-quality, consistent training that drives adoption and system optimization.
Required Qualifications
  • 3 Years recent experience with development of systems and application training programs to include utilization of online training platforms.
  • 1 Year Recent experience in EMR training operations.
  • 1 Year Experience with Epic.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Epic end-user training, application training delivery, and with Epic's Foundation System workflows.

Other Qualification Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Healthcare Informatics, Instructional Design, or related field; or 4 years of relevant experience in systems and applications or training programs may substitute for degree - REQUIRED

Essential Functions
  • Curriculum Development and Content Management
    Design, test, and maintain course materials to support end-to-end workflow training and to ensure congruence with application upgrades and new technologies. Course materials include lesson plans, job aids, and assessments.
    Build and manage training scenarios (with patient data, business process', etc.) within training environments or other IS applications.
    Ensure curriculum accuracy and alignment with production workflows.
  • Training Delivery and Environment Management
    Conduct instructor-led classes (scheduled and ad hoc) for new hires, upgrades, and optimization programs.
    Prepare, configure, and validate training environments to ensure fidelity to production build following ISD and industry standards.
    Provide hands-on support during classes, labs, and mastery programs.
  • Subject Matter Expertise and Collaboration
    Serve as domain expert for Epic training and post-live support.
    Work with IS Training team members, entity training and CI teams, clinical and operational trainers and training leadership.
    Partner with informatics and application teams for workflow validation.
    Collaborate with other trainers for consistency across domains.
  • Change Management and Quality Assurance
    Support system and application upgrade change control and identify curriculum impacts.
    Participate in system and application upgrade testing and validation using established timelines.
    Ensure compliance with Epic training standards and Foundation System principles.
    Provide mentorship to new trainers and Super Users following best practices.
  • Other Duties
    Support cross-functional training initiatives across Clinical Informatics.
    Assist other team members and provide cross coverage when needed.
    Other duties as assigned.
  • Professional Competency
    Completion of the Principal Trainer Certificate or Analyst certificate in assigned domain is required within 180 days of hire date. Domain includes but is not limited to:
    * Ambulatory - Focus on outpatient clinic operations and related workflow. EpicCare Ambulatory Principal Trainer Certificate is required.
    * Revenue Cycle - Specialize in patient access, HIM and billing workflows. Patient Access, HIM, or Resolute Hospital Billing Principal Trainer Certificate is required.
    * Inpatient - Concentrate on acute care, facility-based and related workflows. Either EpicCare Inpatient Clinical Documentation or EpicCare Inpatient Procedure Orders Principal Trainer Certificate is required.
    Completion of TED300 Training Environment Build certification is required within 180 days of hire date.

  • Knowledge of Epic workflows, training methodologies, and healthcare information systems following Epic's Foundation System principles.
  • Understanding of clinical practices and principles related to assigned domain.
  • Knowledge of federal and state medical record statutes and regulations.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with information systems and training environments.
  • Excellent organizational, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively individually and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex training initiatives simultaneously following best practices.
