Job description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Serves as Materials Examiner and Identifier, independently performing the full range of duties required to examine, identify, classify, accept, store, issue, reject, and dispose of the most complex categories of materials and equipment.Qualifications:Who May Apply: US Citizens
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Materials Examiner & Identifier ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Materials Examiner and Identifier tasks. I can uncrate receipts, verify the identity, quantity, and functional condition of incoming materials, utilize manual records and automated systems to store and retrieve standard stock items, and operate material handling equipment such as forklifts. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
  • Physical Effort: Incumbent regularly performs moderate to heavy lifting 45 pounds or more when moving items
    by hand or with dolly. Incumbent typically works on hard surfaces. Constant walking and standing on hard surfaces for prolonged periods is required. The work requires bending, stooping, and pushing/pulling heavy items along conveyor lines (e.g., to manually push pallets onto dollies).
  • Working Conditions: Work is performed indoors and out. Inside typical receiving and storage areas, fans and heaters moderate (but do not eliminate) seasonal extremes of temperature. In some instances, there may be no moderation at all. Incumbent may also work on adjacent lots where seasonal extremes are not moderated, or are even exaggerated (i.e., inside vans). Risk of shifting and/or falling loads is present (i.e., when material is being pulled from or placed into pallet racks). Other hazards include working around MHE and other moving vehicles. Incumbent is regularly exposed to nose, dirt, fumes, and vibrations. Incumbent is subject to abrasions, cuts, and punctures from banding, staples, splintered pallet and crates, etc. Safety shoes are always required. Ear plugs
    and/or gloves will be worn depending on the task at hand. Some material which incumbent processes are hazardous and may require additional PPE.
