The FICEP Operator reports directly to the Hardware/Finishing Supervisor. FICEP Operators are responsible for achieving immediate and short-term production objectives assigned by the Production Manager. This position requires near perfect attendance and punctuality. Employees are expected to be in their department area before the shift starts. Reasonable overtime hours may be required to meet production needs. 

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Requirements

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all parts are produced on time and are of good quality.
  • Read and verify complex sketches prior to producing parts. Verify that the angle size and thickness match the sketch before running. Check pieces in process against sketches. 
  • Accurately count number of pieces produced. 
  • Efficiently operate the FICEP to ensure that the angle parts are accurately drawn out for production. 
  • Keep Hardware and Weld Shop stocked with department-specific parts. 
  • Keep angle warehouse stocked. Order stocked parts when low and specialty metals in advance. 
  • Minimize material waste. 
  • Responsible for care and preventive maintenance of the equipment in use. 
  • Follow all safety guidelines and report violations, accidents, and near misses to the supervisor.
  • Assist in the training of new personnel on safety, production, and quality standards and procedures.
  • Follow instructions given by the Hardware/Finishing Supervisor. 
  • Responsible for housekeeping in your area and the entire facility.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Team Player.
  • Time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to operate forklift and obtain certification within three months (on-the-job training provided). 
  • Basic understanding of hand tools and how to properly use them.
  • Ability to properly operate FICEP (on-the-job training provided). 
  • Ability to read a tape measure to the 1/16". 
  • Proficient in math, both decimal and inch calculations.
  • Ability to follow company safety procedures and processes. 

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One-year work history or military service with honorable discharge.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to accurately exchange information with co-workers and management.
  • Heavy lifting (50lbs) is required on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials.
  • Ability to remain at workstation for long periods of time while using tools and machinery and performing repetitive actions.
  • Manual dexterity to evaluate, modify and operate machinery and equipment. 
  • Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.
  • Temperature of work environment ranges from 15 - 110F.
  • Normal work hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 am - 5:00 pm. Hours subject to change at the discretion of management. Overtime is required, as needed to support production goals.
