Job description

Electrical Material Handler
Position Summary
The Electrical Material Handler is responsible for receiving, organizing, staging, distributing, and tracking electrical materials and equipment on active construction projects. This is an entry-level position designed for someone with a basic understanding of electrical construction who is organized, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced jobsite environment.
The ideal candidate does not need to be an experienced electrician but should be able to recognize common electrical materials and understand the basics of how materials are used during electrical installation.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Receive, unload, inspect, and organize incoming electrical materials and equipment.
  • Stage and distribute materials to electricians, foremen, and crews throughout the project.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and properly labeled material storage and laydown areas.
  • Assist with tracking material inventory and notifying supervision when commonly used materials are running low.
  • Verify deliveries against packing slips, purchase orders, or material lists.
  • Help identify and separate damaged, incorrect, or excess materials.
  • Coordinate with field supervision to ensure crews have the materials needed for upcoming work.
  • Safely operate carts, pallet jacks, and other approved material-handling equipment.
  • Assist with loading and unloading company vehicles and deliveries.
  • Understand and identify common electrical materials such as conduit, fittings, boxes, wire, cable, supports, hardware, and electrical equipment.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in material storage and staging areas.
  • Follow all company and project safety policies and procedures.
  • Communicate material shortages, delivery issues, or discrepancies to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Perform additional material handling and general jobsite duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Entry-level position; extensive electrical experience is not required.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical construction and installation preferred.
  • Ability to identify or quickly learn common electrical materials and components.
  • Previous construction, warehouse, material handling, electrical helper, or jobsite experience is a plus.
  • Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively with field supervision and electrical crews.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Basic computer or tablet skills preferred for material tracking.
  • Ability to work safely in an active construction environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to regularly lift and carry construction materials.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work on an active construction site for extended periods.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and jobsite conditions.
  • Ability to safely handle and transport electrical materials and equipment.
What We're Looking For
This is a great opportunity for someone who has basic electrical knowledge but is not necessarily an electrician. A successful Material Handler will be organized, dependable, safety-minded, and proactive about making sure our field crews have the right materials in the right place at the right time.
Electrical construction experience is helpful, but attitude, reliability, organization, and willingness to learn are equally important for this position.
