In the Global Products Group, we are dedicated to excellence in the design and engineering of Lam's etch and deposition products. We drive innovation to ensure our cutting-edge solutions are helping to solve the biggest challenges in the semiconductor industry.
The impact you'll make
The Deposition Product Group Materials Science & Technology Group is responsible for the innovation, development, and validation of high-performance advanced materials and surface treatments for use in the challenging environmental operating conditions inside of semiconductor wafer fabrication equipment.
Successful innovation requires advanced materials science and engineering knowledge, a deep problem-solving mindset, and a high aptitude for working in cross-functional teams (CFTs).
What you'll do
  • Drive engineering development to deliver superior solutions through systematic empirical and modeling efforts
  • Identify opportunities and lead programs in materials science & engineering, chemistry, physics, mechanics, and fabrication methods to develop novel materials and surface treatments
  • Utilize best practices in experimental design, structured problem-solving, data interpretation, and additional disciplined approaches to enhance material performance
  • Define, plan, and conduct accelerated life testing, materials characterization, and failure analysis (FA) to enhance engineering capability for design of robust hardware and to determine hardware lifetime
  • Communicate key learnings to define system operational boundaries and next generation technology
  • Present hardware solutions along with analyses supported by data and mechanism understandings for deployment in Lam Research deposition tools

Who we're looking for
Minimum Qualifications:
  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or Metallurgical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of metallurgy and electrochemistry; additionally, performance of materials in complex thermal-mechanical-chemical stresses environments
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment including set-up, operation, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with analytical and test methods including advanced materials characterization and mechanical property testing
  • Working knowledge of standard test methods for materials performance
  • Working knowledge of techniques for structured experimental design, small sample size statistics, statistical methods, design for reliability, and high-volume manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of structured problem-solving methodologies and tools
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Ability to react productively to shifting priorities to meet business needs and deadlines.
  • Excellent people skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently with diverse teams, customers, internal and external partners
