Material Handler Job Description - KPSM
3rd shift - 2 positions - F, S, S - 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM
ROLE:
The Material Handler is responsible for the movement of material through the facility, from the CNC punch presses and lasers to the Forming department to QC to part marking and staging. Material Handler associates are responsible for break-out of parts from the CNC cut nests. Forklift eligibility, moving materials from machine to machine, moving pallets of parts between work centers, marking / tagging parts, other manual activities as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Establish a Safety-First team environment with all team associates, including proper use of PPE.
• Demonstrate a culture of 5S awareness, team wide, to maintain organization and cleanliness.
• Clock into Paylocity for labor hours tracking.
• Clock into JobBoss for job timekeeping.
• Move material from work center to work center, stack parts, shake out parts, sort material.
• Clearly identify material, attach identifying tags to materials or containers.
• Conduct work per traveler or receive oral instructions for work assignments.
• Record number of units handled or moved, using daily production sheets or travelers.
• Stage material in correct areas for processing orders.
• Move material for recycling to the proper bin by material type.
• Operate machines as required, or physical activity to operate machines or processes. Record operation or production data in JobBoss^2.
• Operation of mechanized devices or equipment, forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, hoists, a valid driver's license is required.
• Maintain a clean safe workspace, make sure material is appropriately stored, staged, or labeled.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Physically able to operate different machinery/equipment.
• Prolonged periods of standing walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching, stooping, and carrying materials.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
• Noise levels can be loud and disruptive at times.
• Warehouse environment, indoor but not climate controlled.
• Proper use of PPE, Safety Shoes, Safety glasses, Gloves, Hearing Protection, Hard hats.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
• Verbal and written communication skills/Interpersonal relationships
• Willingness to collaborate with team members, listen to and discuss methods and principles with peers.
• Attention to detail, with propensity for problem solving.
