Summary:

The Material Estimator 3 is responsible for developing accurate material lists from architectural plans for use in residential, multi-family, and commercial construction projects. Ensures lists are produced accurately and timely based off blueprints provided by customers. Requires the knowledge of commonly used framing concepts and practices within the construction industry. A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company and the capability of working in a team environment are necessary for this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints
  • Develop accurate material lists including quantity and type of materials to be used
  • Ensure conformance to all relevant building requirements and municipality building codes, if applicable
  • Interpret design requirements as indicated by procedures, design manuals, and other applicable specifications
  • Generate detailed cut sheets for final construction
  • Ensure material lists are accurate, optimized, and conforms to standards
  • Willing to train new associates.
  • Review team members take offs for accuracy.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the quality improvement process and the philosophy of continuous improvement; identify and respond actively and with sensitivity to the needs of all customers; participates as a team player in all phases of the organization; and is open and responsive to change.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned within the scope of the job role

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Knowledge of residential, multi-family, and commercial construction framing practices, codes, and carpentry
  • Ability to complete take offs for framing, siding, roofing, windows, and concrete.
  • Willing to learn modular home take offs which include framing, interior/exterior packages.
  • General computer knowledge
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with blueprint takeoff software
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints
  • Attention to detail, takes pride in quality of work
  • Efficient and able to complete assignments within a given deadline
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Communicates effectively with team members
  • Strong team work ethic
  • Associate degree in related field preferred and at least 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
