Job description

A Snapshot of Your Day
As part of our global Engineering Testing & Validation organization, you will lead the Material Laboratories department, which has material labs spread over 4 locations and responsible for advanced material characterization, Material/mechanical testing, Failure Analysis, supporting R&D, product development, and service applications.
You provide strategic and operational leadership to a global organization of material experts, laboratory engineers, and technicians located in Germany and the United States. Your teams conduct material and component testing for gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, and other Siemens Energy products, covering metallic materials, coatings, manufacturing processes, and failure analysis.
The data and insights generated by your organization are essential for material selection, design validation, lifetime assessments, root-cause investigations, and qualification of new technologies. You continuously evolve material testing methodologies, laboratory capabilities, and digital evaluation tools to meet future business and technology needs.
You define the long-term vision and strategy for the Material Laboratories, positioning them as a trusted, best-in-class partner for Engineering, Manufacturing, Service and external customers. You ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance, while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
How You'll Make an Impact
  • Lead, develop, and continuously evolve the global material labs
  • Provide strategic direction and operational oversight for material testing, characterization, and failure analysis activities
  • Partner closely with R&D, Design Engineering, Manufacturing, and Service organizations to support product development and fleet issues
  • Drive capability development, resource and budget planning, and capital investment for laboratory infrastructure and equipment.
  • Ensure consistent testing standards, methodologies, and data quality
  • Advance innovative material testing technologies, including advanced analytics, automation, and AI-supported evaluation methods
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance culture encouraging innovation and knowledge sharing
What You Bring
  • Master's degree (preferred) in Mechanical engineering, Materials, or a related technical field
  • More than 10 years of experience in engineering, R&D, lab environments, or testing, including leadership roles ideally in Turbomachinery industry
  • Proven leadership experience managing global, multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders, technical experts and external customers / consultants.
  • Strategic mindset combined with strong execution capability
  • Willingness to travel internationally (approximately 20%)
  • Ability to influence across organizational boundaries and align diverse stakeholder interests
