Responsible for supervising and managing the materials and warehouse functions to support production operations. This role oversees inventory accuracy, material availability, warehousing, shipping, and purchasing activities while supporting safety, quality, housekeeping, and environmental requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end procurement processes, including purchasing, supplier management, and contract negotiations, ensuring timely delivery of materials
  • Oversee inventory management systems such as SAP, Oracle EBS, and other ERP platforms to maintain accurate stock levels and reduce waste
  • Coordinate production scheduling and demand planning to align supply with manufacturing needs and optimize production flow
  • Lead logistics operations including warehouse management, transportation coordination, and logistics inventory control to support efficient supply chain activities
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles and inventory control techniques to streamline operations and minimize excess stock
  • Monitor MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems to forecast material needs accurately and support production planning efforts
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality assurance, and engineering to ensure materials meet specifications and quality standards
  • Maintain overall inventory accuracy
  • Receive railroad notifications related to railcars
  • Report inventory figures to customers on a monthly basis
  • Coordinate shipping releases with customers and warehouse personnel
  • Serve as document control manager for Section 6 (Office) and Section 8 (Materials Management)
  • Ensure proper storage of materials

Experience

  • Proven experience in materials management within a manufacturing company environment, with a strong understanding of supply chain processes
  • Extensive knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle EBS, or similar platforms for procurement, inventory control, and production planning
  • Demonstrated ability in logistics inventory management, warehouse operations, and demand planning
  • Strong supplier management skills with experience negotiating contracts and maintaining productive vendor relationships
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Technical proficiency in using ERP systems for materials planning, procurement, and inventory tracking
  • Prior experience in production scheduling, demand forecasting, and implementing supply chain best practices
  • Minimum of three to five years of progressive supervisory experience in a unionized manufacturing facility
