Job description

Summary

Our client is a leading U.S.-based manufacturer of premium portable audio solutions and is seeking a detail-oriented Material Control Coordinator to support manufacturing operations through effective inventory management, material control, warehouse coordination, and RMA processing. This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate flow of raw materials, components, and finished goods throughout the production process while maintaining inventory accuracy and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organized and analytical professional with experience in inventory control, ERP systems, and manufacturing environments who enjoys working in a fast-paced production setting.

Duties & Responsibilities

Material Control, Inventory Management & Quality Control

  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials and supplies against purchase orders and delivery documentation.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records through cycle counts, audits, and ERP system updates.
  • Organize and manage warehouse storage locations to ensure efficient material flow and accessibility.
  • Issue materials to production teams according to work orders and manufacturing schedules.
  • Monitor inventory levels and report discrepancies, shortages, or overages.
  • Coordinate material transfers, returns, and disposal activities.
  • Ensure compliance with inventory control procedures and safety standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory accuracy and warehouse efficiency.

RMA (Return Material Authorization) Coordination

  • Process incoming RMAs, including inspection, documentation, and tracking of returned products.
  • Coordinate with Quality, Engineering, and Customer Service teams to determine root causes and resolutions for returned items.
  • Monitor RMA status and ensure timely closure of all return cases.
  • Maintain RMA records and prepare reports for internal and customer-facing purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and customer requirements regarding returns and replacements.

Receiving & Warehouse Support

  • Coordinate with shipping and receiving personnel to ensure accurate and timely receipt of materials and products.
  • Assist with inspection and verification of incoming shipments.
  • Support receiving activities and provide assistance to other departments as needed.
  • Maintain organized storage areas and inventory locations.

Project Initiatives & Continuous Improvement

  • Support physical inventory preparation and inventory reconciliation activities.
  • Maintain stock location records and optimize warehouse organization.
  • Assist with work-in-progress (WIP) inventory assessments and material movement tracking.
  • Support inventory location optimization initiatives, including Bag & Tag programs.
  • Participate in special projects and continuous improvement efforts as assigned.

General Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate inventory, receiving, and RMA documentation.
  • Follow company safety procedures and operational guidelines.
  • Assist department leadership with additional projects and operational needs as required.

Qualifications & Requirements

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in material control, inventory management, warehouse operations, or a related role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience processing and managing Return Material Authorizations (RMAs).
  • Experience utilizing ERP or inventory management systems such as Sage 100 or similar platforms.
  • Strong inventory control, material handling, and warehouse organization experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently or collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification within the first 30 days of employment if not currently certified.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, and move throughout a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work in varying warehouse and production floor temperatures and conditions.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Successful completion of a background check, drug screening, and onboarding requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in inventory management, warehouse operations, or a related field.
  • Current forklift certification.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or 5S certifications.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing production environments.
