About the Organization

The National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) is a private, not-for-profit organization established in 1952 to provide a uniform date of appointment to positions in graduate medical education (GME) in the United States. The NRMP is not an application processing service; rather, it provides an impartial venue for matching applicants' and programs' preferences for each other consistently. The NRMP conducts the annual Main Residency Match encompassing 40,000 applicants for more than 25,000 positions in core residencies as well as Matches for fellowship positions in 55 subspecialties through its Specialties Matching Service.


POSITION SUMMARY

The NRMP is looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst. This role will provide strategic, analytical, and technical support for business intelligence activities in addition to overseeing the preparation of reports and the creation of datasets for research initiatives and analyses. This role will be engaged in fulfilling data requests from external constituents in addition to fulfilling data and presentation needs for executives, senior leadership, and the NRMP Board of Directors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partners with stakeholders, process specialists, and users to elicit and document business requirements for new dashboards, metrics, and reports.
  • Designs, develops, and maintains analytical dashboards.
  • Ensures data integrity by validating data utilized in dashboards for accuracy and completeness.
  • Communicates with stakeholders to understand intent of requests, perform follow ups, and provide status updates, sharing known limitations of data and/or dashboards, facilitating understanding of, and confidence in, the information presented.
  • Supports internal research teams and data publications.
  • Supports executives with data presentations.
  • Provides ongoing support, monitoring and performs refinement of dashboards and analytics team offerings.
  • Creates written communication materials that effectively summarize findings and support recommendations.
  • Creates ad hoc reports and views on a frequent basis to assist management in understanding, researching, and analyzing issues.

Key Requirements

A successful candidate will have the expertise and skills described below.


EDUCATION, PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

  • At least 3 years or more of work experience in data analytics/reporting roles building data visualizations using Tableau in a full-time, salaried role within a corporate environment.
  • At least 3 years of experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with business stakeholders in support of departmental and/or multi-departmental data analytics, and business intelligence initiatives.
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, data management, information systems, information science or a related quantitative.
  • Familiarity with undergraduate and graduate medical education and the residency selection process is highly desirable.


TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Strong experience with SQL, PL/SQL, and/or other programming tools building complex queries
  • Must have advanced experience with Tableau (cannot be supplemented with Power BI). Comfortable with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience with python or equivalent scripting language is a strong plus.
  • Adept in agile methodologies and capable of applying DevOps principles.
  • Experience with QuickSight is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to make inferences and observations about data and transform them into insights

ADA SPECIFICATIONS

This position is primarily remote and sedentary; however, this position will be expected to attend meetings in the Washington, DC headquarters or other locations with sufficient notice and as directed by the CEO.
