Both roles provide valuable experience but differ in responsibilities and career progression opportunities.

What else can I do with a master's in social work?

A master's in social work (MSW) prepares individuals for various roles beyond internships, including clinical social work, case management, community organization, policy advocacy, and school social work. Skills in counseling, assessment, and understanding social systems are essential across these careers.

How much do MSW interns make?

Masters Social Work (MSW) interns typically earn between $15 and $25 per hour, depending on the organization, location, and whether the internship is paid or unpaid. Paid internships often provide stipends or hourly wages, while unpaid positions may offer academic credit or experience instead.

Can you make $200,000 as a social worker?

Masters social work interns typically do not earn $200,000, as internships are unpaid or offer modest stipends. Salaries for licensed social workers vary by experience, location, and specialization, with most earning between $50,000 and $80,000 annually; reaching $200,000 usually requires many years of experience, advanced roles, or private practice. High earnings are uncommon for interns but possible for experienced professionals in certain specialized or administrative positions.
