Job description

Shared Ice Services is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to serve as the on-site HR presence at Nichols Brothers Boat Builders, a custom shipbuilding facility on Whidbey Island. SIS provides shared HR services across Nichols Brothers and Everett Ship Repair — two core companies within Ice Cap Holdings and the Pacific Northwest maritime industry.

If you live in Marysville, Mukilteo, Everett, Lynnwood, Bothell, or the surrounding area, getting here may be easier than you think. Freeland is just 12 minutes from the Clinton ferry terminal, and we pay your ferry fare. Instead of sitting in stop-and-go freeway traffic, many employees enjoy a relaxing ferry ride before arriving at a workplace surrounded by the natural beauty and slower pace of Whidbey Island.

This is a hands-on, relationship-driven role where you'll work side by side with supervisors, tradespeople, and administrative staff every day. You'll handle meaningful HR work — employee relations, supervisor coaching, compliance, onboarding — and you'll also own the operational details that keep an HR function running smoothly: managing incoming mail, serving as the first point of contact on our main phone line, maintaining records, and keeping things organized and moving.

We're looking for someone who takes pride in the full scope of this work — because doing the small things right is what earns the trust to do the bigger things well.

For those who live on the mainland, why commute to Whidbey Island?
