Responsibilities

General description:

  • Instructor is expected to provide instruction to students enrolled in the Master's degree program in HealthCare Simulation for the assigned course(s).
  • Instructor will report to the Chief of Virtual Medicine and/or the Master's degree Program Director at NYIT-College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Follow the course goals and objectives as specified in the Master of Science in Medical/Health Care Simulation core curriculum
  • Provide a new or updated course outline that delivers the a) course description, b) learning goals and outcomes, c) required readings, d) grading format or rubrics and e) dates assignments are due and/or exams/quizzes will take place
  • Provide a series of lectures / presentations to be delivered via a Web-based format (e.g. in Blackboard) and/or virtual synchronous student contact (e.g. through Zoom via web-cam) as scheduled with students
  • Provide 15 hours of instruction per credit hour (e.g., 3 credit course is 45 hours of instruction)
  • Provide clear weekly assignments including due dates and the policies if assignments are late, and expectations for discussion and participation.
  • Create quizzes, exams and/or questions that encourage discussion, analysis of readings and presentations as well as discussion forums
  • Answer students questions in a prompt manner
  • Provide guidance as needed for students
  • Submit grades in a timely manner per NYIT policy
  • Complete any training for instructors that is required by NYIT (e.g., FERPA training, Blackboard training)
  • May be required to attend specific meetings and/or faculty development programs at NYIT-COM
Qualifications

Master's or PhD degree required.

Experience in simulation or medical education required. 

Proficiency using a computer and/or iPad.

Proficiency using Microsoft.
