Job Summary
Department of Pathology is seeking a qualified scientist to work in a research lab in the fields of immunology and microbiology. The successful candidate will be responsible for a study of inflammation in the gut triggered by microbes in mice.
Responsibilities*
The candidate will perform studies to analyze the intestine of normal and mutant mice exposed to the microbiota and pathogens in the presence and absence of immune checkpoint blockade. In addition, purification of immune cells followed by intravenous transfer to immune cell population into recipient mice. The duties will include microbiology, immune cell isolation from tissues, flow cytometry, pathology, designing and performing experiments with the goal of publishing their findings in scientific journals. Candidate should be proficient in all the necessary lab maintenance and procedures to accomplish these activities.
Other laboratory responsibilities, as they arise, under the direction of the PI.
Required Qualifications*
  • MD or PhD degree in biomedical sciences (or related field) with a minimum of 3 years of experience working in a research setting
  • Highly responsible, cooperative and able to work independently and with initiative
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills to work with a large, diverse group
  • Experience working with standard computer software
  • Previous experience working with and caring for rodents
  • Excellent technical skills for bench work including gene expression analysis, immune cell purification and culture, bacterial culture and infection and flow cytometric analysis.
  • A minimum of two publications, preferably as a first author

Desired Qualifications*
  • Manipulation of bacterial genomes
  • Analysis of proteins by Western blot and immunoprecipitation
