Job Summary
The Accounting Director of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting leads critical aspects of the department by ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of SEC filings, evaluating complex transactions, and supporting capital market activities, while monitoring evolving accounting standards.
Job Description
Key Accountabilities
  • Sets standards for quality of work, develops the department vision and drives continuous improvement and standardization across their team.
  • Responsible for shaping department culture and mentoring the development of future leaders in the accounting and finance areas.
  • Provides support to other departments as a subject matter expert
  • Provides strategic expertise to support maintenance and improvements of internal systems.
  • Supports finance transformation initiatives and process improvement efforts.
  • Partners with senior executives and operational teams to deliver financial insights and decision support.
  • Maintains and enhances accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Role Specific Accountabilities:
  • Oversees the preparation and review of SEC financial statements in collaboration with Legal and other stakeholders.
  • Evaluates accounting and disclosure impacts of complex transactions, contracts, and legal or environmental obligations.
  • Reviews commitment committee requests for financial reporting implications.
  • Supports capital market activities, including technical accounting assessments and reporting requirements.
  • Monitors and analyzes the impact of new or pending accounting standards on the company's financial reporting.

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in Accounting or related field
  • Experience preferred in the Energy industry
  • 7+ years experience as a Manager / Supervisor
  • Skills:
  • CPA preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Fundamental understanding accounting and/or associated systems
  • Strong leadership, business, financial, problem solving and communication skills
