Location:

Onsite/non-remote in Maryville, TN

Scope of the Job:

Develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. The position will recommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods and controls. It will also coordinate manufacturing launch for new or revised products. Priorities include process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training.

Education and Experience:

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree (BSME) or equivalent
  • 5+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably in the firearms industry)

Competencies and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of lean principles
  • Specific knowledge in drawing interpretation and standards (GD & T)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and complete multiple projects and objectives successfully
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to influence individuals and groups at all levels of our organization with effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Works with minimal supervision, establish priority and meet scheduled completion dates.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Must be able to read, write and interpret the English language
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • SolidWorks and or CAM knowledge a plus

  • Experience with stored procedures and database design in Microsoft SQL Server

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create/Modify MasterCAM manufacturing solid models to define the process as needed.
  • Performs research, design and development of process parameters: including material flow, venting, and cooling paths in injection molding dies.
  • Must be able to understand and interpret complex part drawings and understand product design intent. Use and understand ASME Y14.5 2009 impact on designs and drawing tolerances.
  • Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products, including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results.
  • Use appropriate project management techniques to insure tools, gauges, fixtures, equipment, routings and CMM/CNC/EDM programs are fully defined, documented and implemented.
  • Designs, develops, tests or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods of equipment and molds.
  • Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement and efficiency improvement.
  • Responsibility to manage and maintain the accuracy of the S&W manufacturing routing database including operation sequence and description, labor hours, set-up and changeover times and machine cycle times as well as appropriate work instructions where applicable.
  • Work closely with multiple groups of diverse interest (Product Engineering, Marketing, Production, Quality, Purchasing, Accounting, etc.) while maintain project focus
  • Reviews and Validates mold designs with suppliers during the initial mold validation stage, as well as coordinates repairs and design changes of injection molds.

May be exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with working around moving machinery, work in confined quarters, exposure to vibrations and shop lighting, continuous exposure to hot temperatures, may be humid, odors, dust, continuous exposure to mechanical hazards, and occasional exposure to chemical hazards.

The following Personal Protective Equipment is required:
