Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS), Beavercreek Ohio, is seeking a Certified Scrum Master.The successful candidates will provide oversight of the Agile framework to ensure operational excellence in product deliveries. The selected candidates will provide guidance and help educate the team in Scrum and Scaled Agile framework (SAFe), ensuring that the Agile process is being followed. They will help remove impediments and foster an environment for high-performing team dynamics, continuous flow, and relentless improvement.

The candidate will work closely with other software developers and product owners accomplishing the following:

  • Support team in completing necessary software on schedule
  • Complete work independently and as a part of an Agile team
  • Facilitate resolution of complex problems through innovative and creative solutions
  • Support software designers and/or software engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of software systems
  • Participate in regular demonstration of progress to customers

This requisition may be filled at a higher level based on qualifications listed below and is contingent on funding.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Scrum Master (Level 2): 2+ years with Bachelor's degree in Science or related STEM degree from an accredited institution; 0 years with Master's degree
  • Principal Scrum Master (Level 3): 5+ years with Bachelor's degree in Science or related STEM degree from an accredited institution; 3 years with Master's degree
  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
  • Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Master (CSM) - active renewal
  • Minimum5years experience as a Scrum Master working with cross functional delivery teams
  • Proven track record of facilitating Sprint Planning, Daily Scrums, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective ceremonies on a consistent basis
  • Hands on experience in a scaled agile environment (e.g., SAFe, LeSS, Nexus) that involves quarterly/PI planning with 20+ teams
  • Strong stakeholder management skills - regularly coordinates with product owners, business leaders, and external service teams to align expectations and dependencies
  • Proficiency with common Agile tooling (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, Miro) for backlog refinement, sprint tracking, and reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to coach development teams toward self organization, continuous improvement, and high quality delivery
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; fluent in creating clear, concise documentation and visual artifacts (process diagrams, information radiators)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Scrum Alliance credentials (A CSM, CSP SM)
  • Direct experience with Program Increment (PI) Planning or other quarterly cadence events in a multi team context
  • Track record of leading cross team dependency management and integration activities (e.g., Scrum of Scrums, PO Sync)
  • Familiarity with Lean Agile metrics such as cumulative flow diagrams, velocity trends, predictability measures, and the ability to translate them into actionable improvement plans
  • Experience applying Systems Thinking to identify and mitigate systemic impediments across service boundaries
  • Background in service oriented or micro service architectures, enabling effective collaboration with other service teams as a stakeholder group
  • Ability to run conflict resolution and facilitation workshops for senior leadership and technical stakeholders
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices (CI/CD pipelines, automated testing) and how they integrate with Scrum ceremonies
  • Proven success in driving Agile transformation initiatives, including maturity assessments, training programs, and cultural change activities
Primary Level Salary Range: $83,400.00 - $125,200.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
