We at Northrop Grumman Missions Systems in Woodland Hills, CA are seeking a skilled Systems Engineer with a strong understanding of requirements development, test case development, and verification and validation of those requirements. The ideal candidate should be proficient with requirements technical baseline management via IBM Rational DOORS, and act as the point of contact to the Chief Engineer and customer.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with a broad customer base to identify unique requirements, flow the requirements into design documentation, and work with a diverse team to build and test those requirements.
  • Present to customers on the capabilities of current products, performance analyses, design information, and requirements verification methods.
  • Generate, review, and manage multiple requirements sets that cover all aspects of both performance and nonperformance including mechanical interfaces, electrical interfaces, data requirements, environmental requirements, and reliability.
  • Awareness and responsiveness to contract milestones and deliverables.
  • Lead an Agile team to ensure the designs are sufficient to meet the system requirements.
  • Work with various Agile teams to ensure all requirements are verified through inspection, analysis, demonstration, or test often by providing test and data reduction scripts.
  • Provide test directions to ensure production tests and troubleshooting tests are executed correctly and resulting data conforms to requirements.

This position may be filled as a Principal Systems Engineer or Senior Principal Systems Engineer
Basic Qualifications - Principal Systems Engineer:
  • Bachelor's of Science degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 5+ years of engineering experience; Master's Science degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 3+ years of engineering experience; PhD degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 1+ years of engineering experience
  • Experience with IBM Rational DOORS
  • Demonstrated success with:
    • Technical baseline management
    • Writing and updating DOORS requirements
    • Decomposing and deriving requirements based on customer specifications
  • Experience in System Engineering activities such as:
    • Software requirements development
    • Requirements development
    • Test Case development
    • Verification and Validation, i.e. experience running tests and documenting results
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including:
    • Demonstrated experience presenting to internal and external stakeholders
    • Demonstrated experience communicating technical information, e.g. requirements updates, test plans, integration test plans, etc.
  • Demonstrated Experience supporting test investigations and debugging efforts
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Active/Current U.S. Government Secret clearance required at the time of application

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
