Scrum Master
Location: Chicago, Illinois (Hybrid)
Role Overview
The main function of a scrum master is championing the Scrum process and ensuring Agile development teams follow the values, principles, and practices of Agile/Scrum delivery. This role involves educating, coaching, and mentoring development teams on best practices while supporting the Product Owner and promoting organizational transparency.
Key Responsibilities
  • Educate, coach, and mentor development teams on Agile/Scrum best practices.
  • Support and educate the Product Owner.
  • Work closely with the Enterprise Agile Coach to ensure alignment with best practices.
  • Advise on and facilitate key Agile/Scrum activities, including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrums, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospective Meetings.
  • Facilitate the scrum process for projects involving multiple departments.
  • Promote Agile/Scrum values and support the team's transformation to Agile work practices.
  • Hold the team accountable for the achievement of release objectives and commitments to stakeholders.
  • Analyze current processes and assist teams with identifying and implementing improvements to optimize productivity.
  • Ensure deliverables are achieved by identifying and removing impediments for the team.
  • Encourage organizational learning by communicating team objectives and progress cross-functionally.
Required Qualifications
Education: A bachelor's degree or diploma in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or an equivalent field is required.
Experience: Candidates should have 6+ years of experience as a Scrum Master.
Skills:
  • Expert-level understanding of Agile/Scrum processes, roles, and practices.
  • Extensive experience applying Agile values and principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Interpersonal skills to encourage, motivate, and guide the team.

Certifications: A Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) certification is required.
Preferred Qualifications
