The College of Health Professions (CHP) at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) seeks applicants for the full-time (12 months) faculty and Program Director position for the Master of Science in Dietetics (MSDI) program in the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition. Salary and academic rank are commensurate with qualifications and college promotion and tenure criteria.
Summary
The Department of Dietetics and Nutrition houses two academic programs: Master of Science Dietetics Internship (MSDI) and Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition (MSCN). The MSCN program is offered 100% online. The MSDI program is offered on both the UAMS Little Rock and North West Arkansas Campuses. The Program Director reports directly to the chair of the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition. The program director is part of the dietetics and nutrition faculty and will actively participate in team meetings and long-term planning for both the MSDI and MSCN programs.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Certification

  • Master's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics

  • Minimum of five (5) years of recent clinical experience

  • Experience precepting dietetic supervised practice rotations

  • Demonstrated university teaching proficiency in dietetics and nutrition

  • Knowledge of current, emerging, and future trends in dietetics and nutrition

  • Excellent management and supervisory skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills, working effectively with preceptors throughout the state as well as other faculty and staff in the college and university

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibilities of the program director include:

  • Maintains program compliance to ACEND accreditation standards

  • Maintains accurate records and prepares reports for accreditation

  • Assuring effective program operations

  • Participate in recruiting efforts on and off campus

  • Overseeing ongoing program assessment

  • Participating in budget planning

  • Plans and conducts advisory committee meetings

  • Maintaining current knowledge of professional discipline and educational methodologies through continuing professional development and

  • Assuming the leadership role in the continued development of the program, faculty, and staff.

  • Your responsibilities as a faculty member will include:

  • Design and deliver instruction in area(s) of expertise

  • Contribute to program and curriculum assessment and planning activities

  • Supervising students in clinical practicum requirements

  • Effectively evaluates student performance (provides timely feedback, addresses weaknesses, develops appropriate remediation for student success)

  • Academic Advising of students

  • Engage in scholarly and service activities consistent with university, college and expectation for core faculty

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
