Job description

Air General, a third-generation, family-owned, national cargo handling company, is seeking a full-time Office "Acceptance" Agent at our Washington Dulles International (IAB) Airport location.

The Office “Acceptance” Agent will be primarily responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring strict compliance with safety and security protocols with cargo handling. Core responsibilities encompass documentation, precise data entry, and fostering effective communication with external customer service, as well as responsible for retrieving import and delivering export documents to and from aircraft, ensuring compliance with DOT, TSA, FAA, government, and air carrier regulations during the acceptance of cargo. The successful candidate should demonstrate the capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Job responsibilities:

  • Comply with all FAA, Airport, TSA, CBP, USDA, and Air General safety and security procedures, and immediately report any discrepancies to a supervisor or manager.
  • Must handle phone calls professionally and courteously, and accept dangerous goods in accordance with FAA regulations and IATA DGR guidelines. Review and understand all documentation supporting a flight arrival/departure.
  • Releasing import international freight after reviewing CBP clearances and authorizations, collecting air freight charges, and preparing freight transfer manifests.
  • Monitor multiple email accounts and respond to customer inquiries.
  • Provide customers with information concerning the status of their shipments.
  • Reconcile Master and House air waybills, as applicable against ACE Customs systems.
  • Handle, prepare, and manifest export flights for multiple carriers/cities.
  • Data capture Export consignments.
  • Verify booking details and request corrections where applicable.
  • Prepare transfer manifests and notify accordingly for multiple carriers/cities.
  • Transmit Customs for numerous airlines.
  • Send arrival notices for international inbound shipments to multiple carriers/cities.
  • Work independently and with a team to solve problems.
  • Any additional requests by the station and department management teams.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be able to obtain a valid airport SIDA badge.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a valid and unexpired US Driver’s license.
  • Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Candidates must possess some intermediate computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Must be able to clearly understand and communicate in English when performing essential job functions.
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings, background checks, and airport/government security background checks, applicable Custom Security Seal, and post offer drug screens.
  • Be available to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to handle stress in a fast-paced, high-noise environment, and meet deadlines.
  • Some travel may be required for airline specific training.

Schedule: 2:30 pm - 11:00 pm (Sun., Mon., Tues., Fri., Sat.) Days Off: Wednesday-Thursday
