Job description

The Engineering and Construction (E&C) division is looking for a Technical Metering Project Manager/Engineer to oversee metering systems for renewable development, design, and construction.

This role involves ensuring all metering activities meet project requirements and align with commercial agreements. The role spans from concept development through construction and commissioning. The role will interface with engineering, development, business management, transmission services, and other external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have strong verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational and time management skills, experience with commercial/contractual agreements, strong knowledge of overall substation design, and knowledge of complex metering systems. The candidate should have experience coordinating a wide variety of stakeholders and have experience managing third party engineering companies.

In lieu of metering-specific experience, I’m willing to get some candidates with strong AI background. Working with AI systems, tools, developing AI agents etc. Some IT & Strong AI knowledge, preferably with an engineering background and degree.

Job Overview

This job is responsible for interpreting and organizing customer, commercial, and internal metering requirements. Employees will coordinate cross functional teams for the execution of technical metering documents and

implementation of metering requirements into engineering design. Employees will also have the ability to evaluate, select, and apply diversified knowledge of metering concepts and best practices to a broad variety of projects. Employees may oversee the work of external Metering EORs and perform project management duties. This role looks to leverage a candidate with strong project management and technical skills.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides engineering, design, and development support
  • Tracks and reports on project contractual execution and design progress
  • Delivers company standards, policies, and support of organization
  • Prepares communications, presentations and provides support at meetings
  • Formulates research, and develops improvement measures
  • Works with other departments within the organization to establish customer requirements
  • Ability to work extended hours
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's – Engineering
  • Experience: 3+ years in relevant P&C/Substation/Metering Engineering experience, and Project Management

Minimum of 3-5 years of metering experience is required. Typical metering experience includes an ability to read protection & control drawings, understanding of instrument transformers including type, accuracy, & burden (CT, PTs, CVTs), familiarity with a variety of metering technologies with a focus on Schneider Electric ION-8650 meters, understanding of meter to meter (peer to peer) schemes, familiarity with iron (Fe) and copper (Cu) loss compensation methods for transformers, generator tie line loss compensation, sharing losses amongst different technologies or PPA customers, and the ability to program meters or create metering templates.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s – Electrical Engineering
  • Master’s – Engineering Management
  • PMP Certification
  • Experience: 5+ years P&C/Subs/Metering Engineering experience. With 2+yrs of project management experience

Additional desirable experience in any of the following related areas:

  • - Prior work experience working for an Independent System Operator (ISO) (IE: SPP, MISO, CAISO, etc)

    • Reviewing Large Generator Interconnection Agreements (LGIAs)

    • Reviewing Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs)

    • Retail service provider agreements

    • Substation design

    • Metering standards

    • Metering auxiliary loads

    • Bench testing meters

    • Communication protocols such as modbus, DNP3, MV90

    • SE ION-8650 meters- Schneider’s ION Setup & PME Software Suites

    • SEL-735 meters- SEL’s AcSELerator Software

    • Orion LX interface

    • IEEE-519 2014 Harmonic Standard
