Job Description
As part of Gilead's Enterprise Data and ERP strategy, we are seeking an Associate Director, Enterprise Master Data Management to serve as the Product Owner for enterprise-wide master data management, governance, segmentation, and data quality capabilities.
This individual will define and execute the enterprise roadmap for Master Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Standards, and Product Segmentation while enabling business transformation across Pharmaceutical Development, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, Commercial, Clinical, and Kite organizations.
This position will report to the Sr. Director, IT ERP PDM and is based in Foster City, CA.
Key Responsibilities
Data Strategy & Business Partnership
  • Own the enterprise master data vision, roadmap, and governance strategy.
  • Partner with business leaders, Data Stewards, and Process Owners to define enterprise data priorities.
  • Establish data governance policies, stewardship models, and operating procedures.
  • Drive data quality, compliance, standardization, and business value realization.

Product Lifecycle & Master Data Platform Ownership
  • Own the strategy, governance, architecture, and continuous improvement of SAP MDG and related data platforms.
  • Govern enterprise SAP data domains, including Material Master, Product Master, Business Partner, Customer Master, Vendor Master, Product Segmentation, and Reference and Hierarchy Data.
  • Define enterprise standards for data creation, maintenance, governance, and quality.
  • Lead enterprise segmentation strategy supporting planning, manufacturing, logistics, serialization, quality, finance, and commercial processes.

Delivery Leadership & Operational Excellence
  • Lead delivery of enterprise data initiatives including data governance, data migration, data quality, and MDG transformation programs.
  • Lead cross-functional teams including Data Stewards, Architects, Analysts, AMS partners, and System Integrators.
  • Establish KPIs for data quality, governance effectiveness, adoption, compliance, and operational performance.
  • Drive platform stability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Leadership
  • Build enterprise data management capabilities and governance maturity.
  • Lead enterprise data councils and governance forums.
  • Influence senior leaders on data strategy, investments, and operating model decisions.
  • Foster a culture of data ownership, stewardship, and accountability.

Key Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in related field with a 10+ years of relevant experience in SAP, master data, governance, or enterprise data management experience or master's degree with 8+ years of related experience.
  • Deep expertise in SAP MDG and enterprise data governance frameworks.
  • Experience with Material Master, Business Partner, Product Master, Data Stewardship, Data Quality, and Segmentation.
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide data transformation programs.
  • Strong understanding of cross-functional business processes and master data dependencies.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and product ownership experience.

The salary range for this position is: $195,670.00 - $253,220.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
