Job description

About Tim Ma Hospitality

We believe that hospitality is a radical act. Founded by Chef Tim Ma, our group is built on the idea that great food should be accessible, meaningful, and deeply rooted in the communities we serve. From Michelin-recognized fine dining to high-volume Chinese-American takeout, our portfolio is diverse, but our mission is singular: to build restaurants that have a soul.

We aren't a corporate machine; we are a collection of chefs, creators, and hospitality professionals who care about the "why" as much as the "what." We’re a DC-based team with national recognition, but we stay grounded by investing in our people and building spaces where our team can grow, lead, and build a career they are proud of.

The Role
The Banquet Chef is the "Logistics Master" of the kitchen. Whether it’s a high-profile buyout at Lucky Prime or a large-scale catering event for Any Day Now, you ensure that food served to 100 people carries the same soul and quality as a dish served to one. You are an expert in timing and large-format execution.

What You’ll Own

  • Event Execution: Lead the BOH team in the preparation and plating of all private dining and off-site catering events.
  • Menu Planning: Work with the Executive Chef and Events Coordinator to design banquet menus that are both profitable and operationally feasible.
  • Organization: Manage the "Prep-to-Plate" timeline for events, ensuring all components are ready for transport or service without sacrificing freshness.
  • Quality Control: Ensure every banquet plate meets our group standards for temperature, seasoning, and presentation.

Who You Are

  • 3+ years of experience in high-volume catering or banquet operations.
  • Calm under the unique pressure of timed events.
  • Exceptionally organized with a focus on food safety and transport logistics.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary.
  • Health benefits and PTO.
  • The chance to lead the group’s expanding event and catering presence in DC.
