Job description

Masonry Field Supervisor

Blackjack Horticulture
Birmingham, AL | Full-Time | Onsite

About Us
Blackjack Horticulture is a full-service landscape contractor specializing in maintenance, installation, floriculture, and masonry/hardscapes. Our mission is simple: making outdoor spaces a JOY, not a JOB. We're looking for an experienced, hands-on leader to oversee our masonry crews and keep projects running smoothly from start to finish.

About the Role
As Masonry Field Supervisor, you'll lead crews in the field, ensure projects are built to spec and to Blackjack's quality standards, and serve as the key point of contact between the crew, project management, and clients on-site. You'll bring both craftsmanship and leadership — training crew members, solving problems in real time, and keeping jobs on schedule and on budget.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and supervise masonry crews on residential and commercial job sites
  • Read and interpret project plans/blueprints and ensure work matches specifications
  • Assign daily tasks and manage crew workflow to keep projects on schedule
  • Train, mentor, and develop crew members in proper masonry techniques and safety practices
  • Inspect completed work to ensure it meets Blackjack's quality standards
  • Communicate progress, issues, and timelines to project managers and clients
  • Coordinate material deliveries and equipment needs for job sites
  • Enforce jobsite safety protocols and address any hazards or concerns
  • Troubleshoot on-site issues and make field decisions to keep work moving
  • Maintain accurate daily logs, timesheets, and progress reports

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of masonry/hardscape experience, including prior leadership or supervisory experience
  • Strong knowledge of masonry techniques, materials, and installation best practices
  • Ability to read blueprints/plans and perform on-site layout
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a crew
  • Excellent communication skills — comfortable speaking with clients, crew, and management
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift 75+ lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay based on experience
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Opportunities for advancement
